Benefits of Whey PWO Shake

Postby infionnity on Sat May 07, 2011 12:07 pm

Hei

I have used the Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Protein as a PWO Shake for quite some time, but I haven't noticed any dramatic change. I am very lean, probably 8% body fat and I have a moderable amount of muscle mass as far as I can tell from the mirror ^^ but I want to gain more muscle mass. That's why I am doing THT (just started this wednesday, 4.5.) and also the MANS diet.
During the time I took the Whey PWO Shake, I trained hard (squat, deadlift, benchpress and isolation exercises) but I didn't really gain any noticeable amount of muscle mass. Maybe the training wasn't that hard as I thought it was, as I have noticed during the last few days of training THT.
My question is, whether I would benifit of a Whey PWO Shake, now that I am doing THT. And if so, which Whey Protein can you recommend? I have read only positive things about ON 100% Whey Protein Gold Standard, but I am curious if someone tried another brand, like ESN Designer Whey and had noticed good results.

Thanks

I have read and learned important things about Protein intake/anabolic window/the required protein intake for muscle mass and so on and I came to the conclusion that whey is absolutely unnecessary.
I will continue to train hard with THT and eat properly and rest and then I will post my results.

Successful Training!

Whey protein shakes help with weight loss by encouraging the maintenance of lean muscle mass and improving your feelings of satiation. Whey protein supports lean muscle which burns more calories at rest than does fat. Protein is more satisfying than fat or carbohydrates, so you become hungry less often and experience fewer cravings. Make sure the protein shake you choose has minimal added fillers and sugars so that you do not take in too many calories.

Hey infionnity

Pwo is the most important time to take your whey shake you should be taking one after each and every weight lifting session like gospel, there is a 20 minute window of opportunity once you drop your last set to the floor to feed your muscles and start the healing and building process.

But i think you are a little confused as to how you think this is your only answer to grow muscle, you must be in a calorie surplus to grow muscle this is the only way you can get your muscles to grow, All the training methods in the world will not build real muscle mass unless your diet is above maintenance calories of 200-500 above depending on what type of diet you are on.

Sure you will grow a little from weight lifting as a beginner but you are beating your head of a brick wall if your diet is not top priorty it is of utmost importance be it bulking or cutting. As i said pwo is the most important time to take a shake simply to start the regeneration of building new muscle fibres, but its calories that make you grow and i mean proper calories AND PROPER TRAINING OF COURSE, THT IS GOOD PROGRAM, research your whey protein the whey protein people are recommending in here are spot on as far as shakes are concerned good protein % and amino acids in them, hope this helps :)

Whey protein is often used in a post-workout shake to help repair muscle. It has a high bioavailability, so it gets digested easily by the system.

Hey nfionnity,

I wouldn't worry at all about gaining mass. If your picture represents what you really look like, you have acheived something most of us struggle for. Why would you want to grow a belly?

Keep doing whatever you are doing.
