Buying supps from net or stores?

Postby undertaker610 on Mon Mar 23, 2009 6:29 pm

Hallo guys,

what generally save you more money?

Buying supplements from internet or from stores in your area?

In my country suppls are very expensive(they are made of gold :) ).The last I saw and took my eyes off was a 5lbs protein powder from EAS at 100e (>100$). WTF?
Creatine mono is generally one of the only relatively cheap
Whey is generally normal except some freak cases like the EAS above.
Glutamine,Carnitine,NO,special products, fat burners are generally expensive.
Even subsidiary companies like Six Star or MAP(sub of Muscletech) that were our last breath became expensive.

I want to make a credit card(I am over 18 finally :D ) that you can add as much money as you want,so that I can buy my precious muscle pills and powders( lol) from net.

Is it worth?

I live in Greece.Do you know any site in UE. Bodybuilding.com has cheap supps generally but the shipping is killing it.I win 10-20% but I think there must be better.

I don't know about the international market, but some local stores (GNC in the USA), if you join their "clubs" or "gold card member" they'll give you big discounts. GNC's deal is the first week of each month they heavily discount products in-store anyway, and then you get a 20% discount on top of that. This brings their prices down to within 10% of online store prices, I pay no shipping, and I support local vendors that way.

Ask around at your local supplement stores about their discount programs. You probably will pay a little more than online, but returning bad goods is much easier locally than over the 'net.

Haha I think this is too evolved for Greek supplement stores but I will check it definately. There must be something.
Basically most of the gyms do discounts if you buy supps from them but it is small 5%- (at the best case) 10%.

I ordered my last shipment of protein and creatine from www.affordablesupplements.com

The initial price is about the same as most online stores I've found, but the good part is that orders over... $70-ish, I forget the number ... have free shipping, which makes the overall price lower than anyplace else I've found.

GNC is a rip-off if you ask me, anytime of the month.

Agreed, unless you want to score some samples or you want to buy a small order to try something out before investing in it too heavily (Strawberries & Barf flavored Isopure, I'm looking in your direction!), or if you need to replenish something quick and don't have time to wait. I ran smooth out of my BCAAs w/o caffeine, so I'm limping along taking the caffeinated ones in the morning and mid-day instead of morning and night so I'm not insomniac (still only getting 6 hours ), and tomorrow I'll go to GNC and get more. It's always good to have some local source, and if it's gotta be GNC  , you might as well wait for the Gold Club savings... :|

I find buying off the net is much cheaper, I used to buy from GNC but they are expensive even as a gold card member. I last bought a 10lbs tub of unflavoured whey for £32 if my memory serves me correctly. It doesn't taste great but I get my easily digestable protein. :)

i bought my supps of bodybuilding.com the shipping was more expensive for obvious reasons...but they have much wider variety and the supps themselves are much cheaper compared to what ive previously bought from UK sellers
i also really like the bodybuilding.com forums :) you just have to put up with a few people being idiots on it

I always buy online. Even after shipping it is cheaper--this has been my experience.

For those in the UK, I can recommend www.creatinestore.co.uk. Their delivery is always very fast (and free if memory serves me correctly) and the prices great. I always found stores to charge £32 for the protein I used to buy, but online I could get it for £20-24. The guys in my gym used myprotein.co.uk which they said was good value. Amazon sometimes has decent deals, though it's all supplied by other companies anyway, so you often have to pay for postage.
