AAAAAHHaaaaaaaa so you got excited and started taking beta-alanine from the get go TUT TUT
Did you preload for five days like creatine to get it into your system? You want to preload 3g twice a day then drop to 3g if you did already but forgot to mention then im sorry  the way i took it before was like i mentioned above i left it to the last six weeks of my 12 week creatine cycle because it kickstarts everything again as im sure you agree joh you stop feeling the effects of creatine after about 6 weeks and you reap the rewards again of feeling something working with your body.

I no longer pre-load creatine, because I don't really "cycle" it per se. I figure I'm only taking a week off so why bother you know? As to preloading the beta-alanine... no, didn't have a clue that that needed to be preloaded, none of the studies I read indicated it was, and poor stupid NOW Foods puts on their instructions to take 2g six bloody times a day. :o You think at a week in it'd be worth it to double up the dose for a week?

And I stop feeling the effects of absolutely everything around week 9. My body like goes on strike that last week and that's the end of that, no matter what I'm eating or supplementing or training (I blame underlying medical issues). Like I can almost guarantee every single time week 10 will be a big fat plateau, and then I'll take a week off and go back after that and I'm good to go for another 10 week stretch. But hey I guess the upshot is all I gotta do is take a week off!

NOW YOU SEE WHY I DO THIS!!!!!! Seriously, it is an awesome feeling knowing you're helping someone else. :D

LALA wrote:I plan a bulk from the first of july and i might be interested in trying this aakg that you mention i never tried it before so i might give it a go to see what its like, also i see usp labs do a bcaa complex called MODERN BCAA its got a 8-1-1 ratio which looks interesting have you seen it yet?

Yep, I've seen the USPLabs supp you're talking about. And I will never touch a USPLabs supp ever again. I'm not able to find any science supporting increasing intake of L-Leucine higher than the normal ratio. Not that there's research saying it's futile, I just can't find a study at all that looks at that question. Seems like bro-science to fiddle with it. Might work, might just take money out your pocket... :?

LALA wrote:im enjoying full body workouts 3x a week at the moment with lots of cardio with the wife and kids at the moment but i am itching to get back to doing a bulk in a couple of weeks, its not that im loosing muscle I JUST LIKE EATING .

3x a week with lots of cardio... yeah... I'd be withered away to nothing  If I don't scrupulously manage my diet and train to failure like a complete and utter madman, my body wastes through muscle like it's just the thing to do. Needless to say this means any layoff for any length of time tends to be a disaster. I don't really have terrible difficulties gaining lean mass, getting my body to keep it is another story. Last time I took sick I was out the gym for a little over two weeks - and dropped not quite 15 pounds of muscle.

Though... on eating... yeah, beef is cheap in Arizona... and I got a big ol' 16oz rib eye in the fridge for dinner... gotta love bulking for no other reason than I get to go back to BEEF as often as I please.

LALA wrote:I invested in a pair of lifting hooks to try them out in place of my straps WOW what a difference it made to my back excercises today totally took the pressure away from my grip and fore-arms, what was interesting was the better contractions i had with using them i was fit to increase my second set by 7kg all over because it took the fatigue away from those areas in which i thought was not really an issue, can't wait to trust them a bit better to see what they can really do for me definitly one of the better investments iv done in a while, really impressed with them. Sorry for going off the beaten track

I KNOW RIGHT!??! I just switched my hooks out - went from the Harbinger ones to the Schiek ones. Little less optimal for biceps, but OMG what a difference on the dead and rows! Like DEFINITELY better contraction, better isolation, and failure driven by the larger muscle not my lousy borked up grip. The fit different than the Harbingers, so I hear you loud and clear on "trusting" your equipment, but yeah, hooks are an awesome investment. Those, my belt and my gloves now just permanently live in my gym bag. Can't imagine having to go without them.

LALA wrote:Oh a friend give me some jack3d on monday to try out!!!! What a load of B.S that is the worst stuff i ever tried in my life, it give me the worst feeling ever i dont know how people can say this garbage is good, my squat looked like a break dance i had that much jitters, i actually felt depressed fo about 5 hrs after my workout, theres too much of a shock to the system too quickly with that stuff for the body to handle and then it leaves you too quickly also which gives that depressed felling, thats the best way i can describe it, definitley didn't like it and wont be trying it again

The lovely CRASH. Gotta hate it. Could be worse, though, friend of mine tried that and it gave him the runs. Nothing says "this supp sucks" like having to stop halfway through your workout and mad dash to the bathroom because of it! USPLabs makes lots of pricey prettily packaged garbage. I tried their Oxy Elite Pro once upon a time - worthless. Granted, I wasn't expecting it to be ephedra good, but I mean I noticed zero difference from week to week as I upped the dosage. Jack3d, well, between my buddy's story and reading the nutrition panel and doing some research, I decided to tinker on my own rather than buy the prepackaged crap like that. Tends to be CRAZY cheaper anyway. :D So yeah, no more USPLabs products for me ever again, either. Boo on them!

Hey joh

I hear you on all sectors  yep definitly too much advertising for these supplement companies they are raking it in with their bullshit products, i bought into it for too long and blew a wallet.

Yeah go for it with the beta-alanine it cant do any harm in loading it now it would be interesting to know if it makes a difference after it being in your system a week the company i bought mine of www.bulksupplementsdirect.co.uk they recommend 3g 2x a day for 5 days then 3g there after and recommend 6 weeks use, i usually get that feeling quicker of nothing working at about week 6 thats why i hold the beta off unto then and change the creatine over to creatamax, i know i know im contradicting myself but this stuff really works for me brilliantly for the last 6 weeks of my cycle  any longer than that and it wears off just like everything else.

Yeah i bought the same hooks as your's, they are awesome just wrap the pinkys around them and all you have to do is concentrate at pulling from the elbows BRILLIANT!! I am a little cautious on the wide grip pull-downs untill i trust them im afraid of lossing my teeth  but that will subside very soon i would imagine.

Im on conventional diet at the moment for energy and to help keep my muscle. Oats, sweet potato, and balsmati rice all low gi and an ec stack to make sure none are going to stored fat, Going from t.s.p.a to conventional is harder than conventional to high fat low carb because of how poor the body is at controlling carbs you could pile on the weight very easy if you are not careful but it works for me because of the lifestyle im living with the kids and wife at the moment it is just more plausable and my protein to support the muscles stays the same nearly all the time anyway, i cant wait to tht4.0 and mans im going flat out at it. Was doing an old favourite of mine today, THE CLEAN AND JERK, it near killed me, theres not a supplement in this world that would help you recover in between sets for this awesome excercise its like running up everest with a donkey on your back OUCH
