Good low-carb whey protein...besides Isopure

Postby LombieHerc on Fri May 06, 2011 12:56 am

I'm nearing saturation on Isopure. Gone through several flavors and need a change, at least for a cycle or two.

Can anyone recommend a good low-carb option that's not full of fillers and other crap that my body doesn't need?

Thanks!

Let's see... other non-crap proteins...

Optimum Nutrition springs to mind. EAS is OK - it's more concentrate than I would care for, but I'm a purist and a diet nazi. The profiles on MetRX's Protein Plus, Dymatize's Elite brand, TwinLab and the Designer Whey line all look good on paper, but I've not tried them, and cannot speak to their efficacy (or taste). Worth mentioning - Designer Whey and MetRX both contain glutamine but not BCAAs, Dymatize's Elite contains neither, and the TwinLab product contains both glutamine and the BCAAs, but has the highest net carbs (still only 5g, but it's 5g you have to count).

Cytosport products (aka MuscleMilk) are OK - but I've yet to find a straight up whey isolate by them, and their products tend to be kinda high carb, kind of hesitant to trade my Isopure for them, but I'm chewin' on it for next bulk cycle... oh Isopure how I wish you had more good flavors...

Oh, and Gaspari and BSN are both garbage. Their entire product lines are garbage - or at least every product by either company I've ever seen is. They make pretty packages and lousy supplements. You might as well light a twenty dollar bill on fire as to spend it on anything made by either company IMHO.

I use Hammer Nutrition Whey Protein. It comes in chocolate, vanilla and unflavored. The unflavored is 100% protein isolate and L-Glutamine. Thats all. It's medical grade.

I use Syntrax which is similar to Isopure, and I mix it with water. Allstarhealth.com has good prices.

Solgar vanilla bean is the only one I've found so far with no heavy metals in it.
