What brand of creatine?

Postby rockstar0215 on Tue Mar 01, 2011 7:17 am

Mark seems to suggest a variety of different creatine brands. Which one's do you guys recommend?
I am currently looking at ProLab, AST, Ultimate Nutrition, and Nature's Best.
Is there any difference in any of these? They all are creatine monohydrate. I am sort of confused if you're only paying for the brand here and if the stuff is the same in all these.
Also, I see there is some talk about MICRONIZED Creatine Monohydrate. Does that effect performance or is it only different because of the finer texture?

NOPE!! Creatine is creatine is creatine is creatine. Your hunch is correct, you're generally paying for brand - or there's stuff in there other than Creatine you're paying for, and then it's a whole new ball game, and we'd have to talk specific blends (i.e. USPLab's Jack3d has creatine in it, but it's not fair to compare that to, say, BodyTech Creatine, since they're not the same product). If you're just buying straight creatine monohydrate, read the ingredients to make sure they're not adding garbage and filler and go with the cheap one.

Micronized means it dissolves better so it's easier to take - basically less 'grit' in your drink. There is no other difference - and no real discernible performance difference.

From what I've read, Creatine is made only by two or three producers and all the companies just buy theirs and repackage them. So in the end it really doesn't matter! I bought the body-building brand one (was that cell-tech?) and it worked pretty well and was super cheap so I'm happy. I just bought a $6 tub of creatine pills since the company went out of business and they're also doing me just fine.

Most of the really expensive stuff has some other ingredients mixed in to help with your workout but it's really not needed, creatine monohydrate should do just fine!
