Anabolic diet v MANS diet

Postby krs on Mon Jun 08, 2009 10:51 am

At the moment I am on the TSPA diet but have been on the Anabolic Diet by Dr. Mauro Di Pasquale.

I have been browsing the MANS diet and would love some feedback please. Mark describes a 160lb person his calories would be 3178
Now Mark suggest your protein intake should be by multiplying your lean body weight in kilograms by 2.75
Your carbs would be between 30g to 60g
I guess your fats would have to make up the rest of your calories?
Protein would be 169.95grams in calories 679.8
Carbohydrates would be 30grams in calories 120
Fats would be 264grams in calories 2376
2376 seems a lot of calories from fats. Is this correct as mark never give’s an actual percentage of protein, carbs and fats.

I ask the question because on the Anabolic Diet by Dr. Mauro Di Pasquale a typical 3168 calorie diet would be 211grams of fat and 277grams of protein. The MANS 3178 calorie diet works out 264grams of fat and 169.95grams of protein. Doe’s marks believe you should take more fat and less protein then Dr. Mauro Di Pasquale diet and why the big difference in numbers for near enough the same quantity in calories.

In the TSPA, Mark does give you a guideline what your fat grams per day should be. It is the same formula you used to calculate your protein intake but there are exceptions. Read page 38 of the book... :ugeek:
Also your fat intake will decrease over time but no less than 70g BUT do not change things IF you are losing at a steady pace.

Excess protein is a waste because most of it would get flushed out in your urine. So mark's recommendation makes sense as it is based on your lean body mass. Also, mark does not count calories on MANS. Personally, i think excess calories are needed for decent progress to be made. Dr D says that you calculate calories by 25x your bodyweight.

Not quite correct. Only a tiny fraction of what you eat would get excreted by your kidneys; most gets converted into carbohydrates by your liver, then stored as fat or glycogen (read: gluconeogenesis).

I think you miss under stood me I have no quires concerning the TSPA. I just wanted to know why the MANS diet was different from the anabolic diet based on the same calorie count. The protein makes sense on marks diet as too much protein in the diet can cause fat storage and insulin spike which we try to avoid. I was wondering is Marks version of the anabolic diet better than the Dr. Mauro Di Pasquale diet. It just seemed to me to make up the rest of the calories for fat looked a lot than when I was on the same calorie count of the anabolic diet, but the protein count was higher. So would you say marks MAN diet better.
