ATTENTION EVERYONE

THE MANS DIET IS NOT A CUTTING DIET.
Everyone gets on here and wants to lose all this fat and put on tons of muscle mass at the same time and that is not going to happen. You can do both but if you want to maximize fat loss you need a different strategy. This diet is great to put on mass while staying relatively lean but everyone needs to realize this diet is not designed for you to lose a ton of weight. Just getting a little tired of all the posts about how everyone thinks they are going to miraculously increase their LBM by 15 lbs and lose all their stomach fat in 8 weeks.

Harry,

Would you imagine there's an exception to your rule for the obese? I would think that MANS is an excellent cutting diet for anyone who isn't already in an athletic body fat range (<14% for men, <20% for women). Where men appear to have trouble cutting further on MANS seems to be in the 10%-14% range...

Regards,

Ya there is definitely some exceptions. If you are severely overweight you will lose weight with most diets, I think. Low carb is the best but the obese got their that way by eating pretty badly and any diet will work. I just mean for those people who have been working out for a while and need to lose that last 10 lbs of stomach fat and still want to put on a lot of muscle mass. I think this is a great diet and I am having great results, but their is a reason bodybuilders go through bulking and cutting phases. Once you get to where you have been working out for a little while you need to focus on one or the other and I think MANS is a great bulking program but their is a reason Mark sells TSPA. I just want people to realize if they really want to focus on fat loss they may need to think about something different. If they want to pack on some muscle with minimal fat or even fat loss if they are obese or new to working out then MANS i a great diet.

I agree with you, except I think it needs to be <29% for women. Maybe the 20-28% range could cut on it if they're also overweight. 'Cause I'm still overfat, but because I'm in the normal weight range, my body don't want to give it up!

If you simply drop the amount of fat in the MANS diet, your weight will plummet, even with the same amount of cardio. I lost about 10lbs because of a phobia of chomping fat...now trying to recover.

Been there too, drinking cups of melted butter definitely takes getting used to

Remember that if you're bulking muscle on the MANS diet, you're bodyfat is still going to lower even if you keep close to the same pounds of fat. I daresay that anybody who switches to MANS is going to lose at least a few pounds of fat to trade for muscle. Now if you're 300 pounds, then I'd agree with you Harry - you'd have to put on what, a hundred pounds of muscle or so to drop your bodyfat to a desireable range?
