after eating a whole 8oz block of cheese(about 900 calories) I would be sick and wouldn't be able to eat anything until the next day.

Stick with it and you'll eat what you need, eventually the urge to eat so much will probably subside.

ALSO make sure your getting enough water!! thirst is easily mistaken for hunger. also it will fill you way up, maybe your just not drinking enough water throughout the day, especially closer to your meals, making you easily able to eat more.

Thanks for your response, hasn't really answered the question I initially posed though. I need to know as a guide what my calorie intake should be based on the variables you requested and I provided or do I not need to worry about calories, that is all I need to know - thanks.

PS, 450 grammes of fried Round Steak (1 meal) with the fat on is nearly 1200 calories, it is not hard to consume 4500+ calories a day.

When you say 'round steak' do you mean a steak, or do you mean ground beef (beef mince)? If the latter, I can believe that it'd be almost 1200 calories, but I don't think you're meant to eat four pounds of meat (cooked weight, what's more) per day on any diet. As much as I would love to eat a couple dozen hamburgers every day, I don't think even I could manage to stuff it all down.

I mean a steak, we call it rump steak in the UK but I believe its called Round steak in the US. With respect to calorie count I am only going on what it says on fitday !??!?!The weight of the meat was 450 grammes uncooked as I don't weigh the meat after I have cooked it. The 450 grammes was the equivalent of only 2 medium sized steaks ? So not that much at all.

well regardless redgiki is right. just measure your results. preferably measurements over simply what a scale says.

At this point in beginning low carbing calories probably won't matter as much (check out this guy, or here sure its antedotal at best, but still)

just keep measuring your results and if you start to seem to be gaining BF rather than losing or maintaining it, then start to worry about calories
