The insulin response from protein is delayed some small but variable number of hours compared to carbohydrate. Otherwise, yes, protein that is not absorbed into tissues from the blood is converted at almost a 1:1 rate into blood glucose.

No, I don't think they are much 200g of protein for a 150lbs man, it's in the normal 1.0-1.5g X bw(lbs) range. Protein has also a higher thermic effect than carbs and fats. 200g of protein are 160g in reality, since 40g(20%) are lost in digestion/consumption proccess. Thermic effect is increased with aerobic and anaerobic exercises (not much though). Protein also stimulates the production of glucagon that promotes fat burning.

I agree that you shouldn't overdoing the protein in your diet,though, since excess calories no matter from where they come will be stored in your fat cells.
