Carb-Up Food on MANS

Postby Dearayne on Sat Jul 09, 2011 4:38 pm

Just wondering what people eat on their carb-up days on MANS. Today (Saturday) is my carb-up and I just had a breakfast of whey protein with 2% milk, Honey Nut Cheerios with 2% milk, and some rubarb crunch pastry that my mother made (delicioso), and lots of water.

Also, what is the best type of milk to drink on the low-carb days? I prefer whole milk because I've heard that the fat lowers the insulin increase.

Happy hacking!

My favorite carb-up breakfast is cereal w/milk, and either a bagel or pancakes, plus orange juice. You're correct in that whole milk generates a lower insulin uptake than fat free. The reason is because milk contains natural sugar (lactose), but it is digested more slowly in the presence of fats, such as the milk fat in whole milk. My usual milk is unsweetened almond milk (2g carbs. 1g protein) or sometimes 8th Continent Original Light soy milk (2g carbs, 6g protein).

I drink coconut milk, low calorie and lactose free. i find after being in keto for a few weeks that i cant handle the huge amount of milk.. :(

As for refeeds mine were 8 hours long.

One breakfast i had, was 5 pancakes, syrup, 3 bowls of frosties, 6 lowfat carrot cakes slices with ice cream and four slices of whole meal toast. 4 pop tarts, a pack of haribo, some star burst and a lucazade sport. not really a breakfast i know, but i ten to eat for the first three hours or so none stop!!!! so anything thats in my path thats high carb low fat goes into my stomach!!!
