Cook it on Sunday

Postby redgiki on Sun Apr 12, 2009 9:40 pm

A very common question here and in the Bodybuilding Diet forum is "How can I possibly eat that much protein in a day?". Here's your answer:

1. A large George Foreman grille with plenty of frozen meats.
2. 90 minutes on a Sunday afternoon (timed it! And I watched Mary Poppins while stuff was cooking.)
3. Some space for the meat to cool.

I use a gram scale and put 100g servings (within around 10%) into baggies, then after they cool I toss them into a metal bowl in the fridge. I fill other baggies with dried edamame and walnuts (30g per serving for those). Then I pack veggies 50g at a time into baggies. Grabbing lunch in the morning becomes trivial, and I need no "extra" time in the morning in order to eat correctly; I have the core of my meals already prepared, and just need to toss some fresh veggies into my lunch sack!

Eating correctly and 'bodybuilder" style requires some preparation... but that can take place easily on your day off. Get it done and don't procrastinate eating right!

Meat,meat,meat it's like heaven :D .

Oh, I will definately tell my mother doing it like this, since she always complains about cooking meat for me everyday...

Do they stand for a week, or you have to do it again in the middle of the week?

I consider my "work week" to be Monday through Friday, and I'll typically eat 3 or 4 of my 6 meals a day at work. So that's 15-20 servings of protein. The food I cook on Sunday afternoon lasts just fine in the refrigerator for 5 days. I usually don't have leftovers, since I only prepare around 15 servings. If my kids get into my stash of protein, though, I will need to cook a few servings again late in the week.

I encourage my children to eat my food, by the way. Far better a piece of chicken breast than a slice of cake or a piece of candy!
