If you're eating MANS, go easy on the complex carbs (30g per day) until the weekend, then eat as many as you can (>400g). Avoid simple carbs altogether as much as you can. As far as GLAD goes, you can eat more, but I'm not as familiar with that diet.

On MANS, you count everything.

This is a topic, however, that has been disputed on them there Interweb Tube Thingies for years. Do you count complex carbs as well as simple carbs? What about veggies? What about sugar alcohols?

My rule? I count every dang thing if I can. I've slacked off recently and it shows in my brand-new, smaller jeans fitting a bit too tightly.

The one exception to my rule is erythritol. Due to its elimination through the urine, it's virtually indigestible, has no impact on insulin, and contains only trace digestible carbs. Truvia packets say 3g of carbohydrate, but I don't count 'em that way. I also tend to neglect to count my 1 or 2 pieces of sugar-free gum per day.

I'd say, try GLAD... even if you don't do anything else, GLAD is a perfect way to eat carbs and protein. Butter Beans, Asparagus, Brocolli, Ezekiel Bread, Salads, etc etc... there are so many choices. But, if you slip up and add simple carbs or eat too many carbs, you may notice fat storage.

Are you taking into account the dietary fiber that complex carbs contain? Remember to subtract the dietary fiber from the total carbs to get the net carbs that your body utilizes.
One of the best products I purchased was a carb scale. It will give you a weight in grams and with the included book you multiply the given "carb factor" and that will translate into total net carbs. It might be tedious but over time you get pretty much guess how many carbs you might be digesting. The scale will also zero out a container so it will not take that into account in the weighing process.
