G.L.A.D. Fat?

Postby principal lite on Sun Mar 14, 2010 4:33 pm

I’m new to this site and have a question on the Glad Diet? Say my optimal growth calories are 3037 calories. How much fat is allowed on the glad diet?

I haven’t really done the new Glads Diet but I think mark stated that fat should be around 30-40 grams of saturated fat total and no more. Also Mark starts the calories with protein by using your lean body weight multiplied by 2.75. I guess the rest of calories come from carbs and fats. The main thing for this diet to work is that you only increase cals by 100-200 more than maintenance just enough to support optimal growth. The old Glad was really a basic traditional bodybuilder’s diet consists of 40g carbs, 30g protein, and 30g fats but this new glad diet is governed by the Glycemic Load not topping 90GL and roughly 15GL per meal. I know some people have been using this diet and will help you out more than I can so good luck.

Thanks for your help. What I am having trouble with grasping with this diet are how much daily fat and carbohydrates are you allowed. I need 3037 calories a day 780 calories of them come from protein 195grams. I have to find 2257 calories from carbohydrates and fats but not surpassing 30-40 grams of saturated fat a day? I am finding it quiet difficult getting enough carbohydrates by using no more than 15GL points per meal 6 meals a day. Can somebody help me out by giving an example of a 3037 calorie diet menu thanks.

Just count the carb calories required to stay under GL limit, then fill in the rest with a fairly equal amount of protein and fat, easy as that. That is what I have done for this diet for over a year and it has worked great.

Appreciate your reply sounds simple but shouldn’t your protein be your LBM multiplied by 2.75 so you don't consume too much protein that might turn to body fat?

Sure protein can turn into fat, but so can carbs and fat, which can be converted and stored more easily and efficiently than protein can.

The only hard upper limit you really need to be strict with is the GL on the carbs, otherwise there is room to play with the rest of it, because you are already eating the appropriate number of calories for the day and not leaving much anything left over to be stored as fat anyway.

I second that your protein & fat can fluctuate as long as you keep your carbs under 15GL per meal. As long as you have not over estimated on calories for optimal growth say 100-200 cals over maintenance you should have no problems. If surferx have been on this diet as long as he say's then he has walked the walk and advise seems good.

Big thanks for all help. So to re-cap as long as your carbohydrates per meal don’t surpass 15 GL points and no more than 90 GL points a day with capping saturated fats to 30-40 grams a day I’m ok. The rest of my calories from protein and fats can be fifty-fifty.
