GLAD and Atkins

Postby jimboski10 on Sat Aug 06, 2011 4:20 pm

I am trying to figure out the GLAD diet and get down to 10% BF. Question....I have done the Atkins diet in the past and kept net carbs at 20-30 per day. Is this the same thing as GLAD? Can I follow the same as what I did with Atkins and just count total daily carb count....and eat 6 times per day, and keep protein at 150-170 grams per day?

I want to make sure I get this right and now try to over think this or make it more complex than it needs to be.

Thank you,
Jim

I think you're confusing GLAD and MANS. GLAD is the (relatively) high carbohydrate muscle bulking diet, while MANS is the low carb bulking/cutting diet (depending on your caloric intake).

You can approach MANS like Atkins if you keep your carbs low (20-40g net carbs, depending on your carb threshold) and your protein high, but you will absolutely need to include a carb-up. There is no carb-up with atkins. The difference here is that you'll be working out regularly, so you need to replenish your glycogen in order to keep progressing with your weight lifting. Beyond that, the carb-up has a ton of positive side effects attached, such as increasing your anabolic hormones (I.e. IGF and testosterone). It's definitely NOT atkins.

GLAD keeps your glycogen/insulin at a constantly moderate level through meal timing and proper GL inake. It's primarily a bulking diet.

Thanks for getting me straight on the names...I am new to the hack and this forum, but excited to get started :D
So...I will follow the Atkins plan....and then carb up for 24-36 hours once per week and follow the THT 4.0 workout plan

Time to rock! Thanks for the quick response!
