Going from GLAD to MANS!

Postby Gavc on Fri Aug 05, 2011 10:18 am

Hi guys just a quick few questions which have probably been asked a million times before so I appologise in advance!! I'm going from the GLAD diet onto MANS so I want to get things right from the start!!

So here goes, on MANS am I right in saying:

1. I don't need to count cal's or fat only net carbs?
2. I eat when hungry and not to a strict every 2-3hrs like GLAD?

That's it for now, your answers and any other advice on MANS would be appreciated :D

With one exception, yes, that's pretty much it. The exception being you don't want to exceed calories by that much. You don't need too many excess calories to add muscle. But otherwise you're correct is stating that protein requirements represent a floor and carb requirements represent a ceiling - a very low ceiling - and eat when you're hungry.

I would suggest working out your rough maintenance calories and increasing by a couple of hundred to bulk, then monitor progress. If you don't count at all and eat 500g of fat each day I would imagine you'll start getting fat.

So...on MANS you do not need to eat 6 meals a day? Just when you are hungry?

Correct. GLAD requires a slow, steady insulin release hence the "eat every three hours" rule. To not exceed your calorie reuirements by too much you can see these are small meals. I never use a regular size plate on GLAD. MANS allows as little insulin release as possible so there's no point in risking it with more frequent, small meals. Simply eat your normal, larger, less often meals on MANS.

i would personally still go with the six meals a day, its much easier to spread them out, then to nosh it in three goes, a much higher fat content makes you feel fuller quicker, so you could find yourself strugglin to hit your protein targets. after my tspa cycle i was thinkin doin the opposite go glad stead of mans, see if i do that a lot better. three words of advice is water water water! keep yourself hydrated, this mans diet makes you loose water quickly, so keep your hydration levels up, most importantly on carb up day, all that extra glycogen stored in your muscles will soak up that water like a sponge, if i didnt hydrate sufficiently i had what felt like a hangover headache
