How to calculate how many gram of fat needed?

Postby rosdi on Mon May 23, 2011 6:27 am

I can calculate how many grams of protein needed based on my daily calories requirement.
But how about fat? Is there a formula to calculate?

Is it weird to say that I am having a hard time finding high fat low carb food?

First, figure your protein and carb requirements. The calories remaining on your plan (GLAD? MANS? TSPA?) are your fat calories. 1 g fat = 9 calories.

As for high fat/low carb foods, think about red meat, heavy cream, nuts/seeds, and eggs as examples.

(Total calories - (Carbs calories + Protein calories)) / 9 = Fat Need in Grams

Yup!

Cheese, red meat, pepperoni, salami, sausage, bacon, guacamole, ranch dressing, nuts... if you're American just make sure you're counting NET carbs and not TOTAL carbs. :)

So 9 calories = 1g fat, ok thanks.

Yeah so far my only meal consists of mostly beef, egg, mayonnaise, cheese, and chicken. But you know since I can't cook so it gets pretty boring quickly.. lol...
