Leangains Nutrition Plan

Postby gjohnsoniii on Thu Jan 05, 2012 7:50 pm

Has anyone heard of a plan called Leangains http://rippedbody.jp/2011/10/08/leangains-intermittent-fasting-guide-how-to-do-it-by-yourself/ ? I ran across it while researching how to cut about 40-50lbs of fat before starting TSPA (currently 6'4", 245lbs, 34% Body Fat. If anyone has personal experience or has heard anything positive (or negative) about this plan, I would love to hear about it.

Intersting site. I had a good look around it and most of the priciples sem fine. A couple of things caught my eye though. They were a litle vauge as to how it works, unless you hire them to coach you of course, and all the pictures of the people they put up were pretty lean to begin with. It may well be very productive; i mean the calories they suggest are tght and would work with any trainig program. If you are currently cutting and are familiar with how your body responds to your diet why not try and eat your caloris in the 9 hour period as they suggest and see if it makes any difference (without altering what you are currently eating)

I like the fasting part and using it with my TSPA. Kinda out of desperation to lose the last 2% -3% of bf.
What happpens is I get to eat 3 nice sized meals and stay within my calorie/macro count.
Before, doing small meals all day, I was always struggling to keep things minimized.
Martin Beckham is a smart guy.
Carb up days are my downfall. I can't stop once I get started.

Hi,

I'm very familiar with LeanGains, Martin hasn't produced a book or a plan (unless you are a client) although I do think there is one due.

You do a 16/8 split (16 hours fasting / 8 hours eating your calories). How you manage this is all based around when you workout. Nothing revolutionary in here, but the one thing it does promote (which to me is very unusual in these circles) is a relaxed attitude. No worrying no stress, you just eat in your window and don't outside of it. There are some physical and mental benefits to this as well although in an article I read Martin suggests that you don't really notice these until you hit the lower end (under 12%) of BF. I'm around 20% BF but I am a keen IF'er, I use it along side TSPA (only started this week) and know I will see good results. IF is a convenient way to leave your life and not worry when 4 hours has gone by and you haven't eaten. I know Vanguard is also an IF'er (a famous face around these here parts). I personally fast for 18 hours and eat for 6, I think VG does 20/4.

If you have any specific questions feel free to ask or PM, i'll do my best based on my research and browsing around LeanGains.
