Lost where and what for the MANS diet

Postby pritchardruben on Tue Aug 02, 2011 7:27 pm

Hi,
I recently stumbled upon this page and have been hooked ever since, seeing all of the progress from all of these people is such a massive motivation for me. Anyway down to Business.
I'm 16 6 foot , weigh 68kg, am about average build, and am trying to basically get Big fast.
I previously went to the gym 5 times a week but have recently dropped to twice a week due to exams.
The diet is my main issue, as i have little time in the mornings, and almost always buy my lunch from my small local tesco near my school.

So my question is what can i make very quickly in the morning that is low carbs and yet filling and sticks to the diet.
Then for Lunch, is there something quick and easy i can make at home, like a wrap, tuna for lunch? Is there anything actually good in tesco that i can buy for my lunch ? It has to be ready to buy/easy to make/microwaveable as i have limited cooking tools when in school. Are things like boiled eggs, cheese and Crackers, good for the MANS diet.
Dinner i think im fine as i always have a salad, and then meat with veg...

I no this is quite a precise and picky request but i believe that there are quite a few people who are tight for time in the morning, and have limits on what they can do for lunch aswell.

Thank you for any help you can give
Regards
Ruben

Hi and welcome to the forums, there is a lot of awesome info on this site Mark knows his stuff!

For breakfast a cheese omlette is pretty quick and easy to make, or scrambled egg & bacon is pretty good too. If you are really struggling just eat some cold chicken breast or something.
For lunch a salad with a bunch of cheese & chicken is good. You said you could do boiled eggs which would also be a good option.
I would avoid crackers since MANS is a Keto diet so you want to keep carbs low
You mentioned a tuna wrap, I think you can get low carb tortilla wraps and stuff but you would need to look in the supermarket to see the carb contents and work them into your plan. Could throw in some mayo to help hit your fat quota and it would stop it being so dry - I really like chopped peppers with a tuna wrap actually they make it a bit less boring.

Just make sure you hit into your macros and it's all good.

I found Natural greek yoghurt with almonds to be a great solution to a quick easy almost cereal like breakfast.
Tesco's finest is about 5g carbs for 100 ml , then top your calories up with almonds.

Thanks eleischner, those are some great ideas and im definatly going to start having more omlettes for breakfast now
The only problem with a salad for lunch is that they just dont fill me up. Basically im used to carbs being my "sustanance" and filling me up and thats the major issue i think im going to find.
Thanks again all of your comments are a great help for me

No problem :)

I know what you're saying with the salad - But I am 6ft and have a salad of baby spinach, celery and tomato bulked out with 100g of chicken, 100g of feta & dressing and it fills me up well. I am on TSPA not MANS since I am trying to lose weight but I think it would fit MANS fine too.

Also with the MANS diet, you are limited to 30g of carbs a week, but is that complex carbs only (starch e.g potatoes pasta etc) or are you allowed sugar?
If you arn't allowed sugar wont that mean that you can't drink any fruit juices or eat any fruits?
Im a bit confused on this

Don't know if it was a typo - But it's 30g a day, not 30g a week!
You are allowed to have whatever you want for those carbs; fruit, pasta, haribo etc. - But you will be better served by eating lower GL carbs since they don't spike your insulin as much.

ye a week was a typo, but does that mean you can have 30g pasta and 20g of sugar, or only 10 pasta and 20 sugar?

It's 30g total - So 10 pasta & 20 sugar. You get your carb up at the weekend though!
