Lowest Protein

that you can get away with while building muscle on MANS, given g of fat are the same as protein and carbs are >30g.

In Mark's article http://www.musclehack.com/how-much-protein-is-needed-to-build-muscle/ the total amount of protein suggested comes out to just about times a tenth (~1.1) a person's bodyweight in lbs.

I've been consuming about 1.5x amount of protein (altho my fat intake was severely deficient) and haven't had any qualms...except for the frequent trips to the store, the stuffed fridges, and the rising budget records. As a student without a very large expendable income, all this chicken and tuna becomes costly. Being an alcoholic is cheaper.

What do you guys do? Do you think 1g-1.1gxbodyweight(lbs) is sufficient?

It's the bare minimum I'd say, it's better to slightly overeat than slightly under eat protein if you're looking to bulk. Supposedly, as you eat more protein, your body gets better at metabolizing and using it (I'm not sure if this is another bodybuilder rumor or not) - so if 1g of protein per lb of lean body mass is right for a starter, a veteran beefeater could probably handle a little bit more.

IMHO, it has much more to do with your size than with your experience. A veteran bodybuilder who has 70 lbs more muscle than someone of the same height and frame will clearly have a larger protein requirement in comparison. In the presence of more protein, your liver will create more cells devoted to converting protein to glucose (gluconeogenesis); that's the only adaptation going on, really.

Yes; what I meant was that say you can use 1.0g of protein per lb of lean body mass; supposedly over time you could use say, 1.2g or more per lb of lean body mass. The proportion would increase.

That's what I was trying to say

I'm smaller-framed and have only been lifting for about 2 (shaky) years, so I think I can get away with eating 1g/2.75 until I graduate and pay off those student loans.
