MANS and Leangains/IF

Postby smaltz on Tue Nov 01, 2011 4:43 pm

I have been on MANS for the past month+ after TSPA. Based on vanguard's Leangains/IF experience, I have read up on all the core concepts and while I am not ready to go the IF route yet, I do find some of the ideas interesting to try. Does anyone have any practical experience/results with 1) the idea of loading higher calories on workout days and lower on non and 2) eating the largest meal post workout?

The logic makes sense, but I haven't found much science.

I have been doing it for 6 weeks and its helped me keep the fat down while I gain mass. I am not sure I would do it while on MANS though as MANS is designed to do that all on its own.

I am eating a more conventional carb bulk diet of 3400 calories on my work out days, ( 5 days a week) 16 hour fast 8 pm until 12 noon with my largest meal after my workout at 6pm. On my two non workout days I fast for 20 hours and eat 1600 calories starting at 4pm to 8pm. In 6 weeks I have gone from 199 lbs to 211 and kept my fat % in the 10% to 11% range. This week I am taking a break from training and dieting for the week which should leave me close to what I was for BF at the end of TSPA only with added LBM.

Its not hard at all and you can use it while cutting or bulking.

If your looking for more info on IF here is a great unbiased report.

I am new on MANS, i need some advice as the MH website didn't specify the caloric and fat intake requirement for everyday.
so how much fats and calories are enough to build muscle on MANS diet? is it the same as 200 growth cals + daily calorie requirement??
I take 150g of protein a day but have no idea how much fats??

it's known that the ingested protein would first be turned into glucose and burned as fuel if the body's glycogen is empty, glycogen is emptied in a typical jogging duration of 30 mins, which means glycogen is actually quite little.
in this case for a low carb diet like MANS, wouldn't we need to consume more protein that the recommended body building protein daily intake?? i.e. lean body mass multiplied by 2.75
since part of the protein will be used as fuel and not for muscle sythesis, furthermore, it's also known that taking excess amount of protein for long term will damage liver and kidneys.
can somebody help me with this MANS diet problem please. Thanks!
