Minimum Calorie Intake To Build Muscle on M.A.N.S.

All,

Two questions......

1. If I go up to 60 carbs/day for 5 1/2 days (instead of the recommended 30)...will this still work to build muscle?
2. On the G.L.A.D. you need to get an additional 200-300 calories above maintenance to build muscle.....for M.A.N.S what amount of calories over maintenance should be taken in to build muscle?

60g carbs will still build muscle, but may be too high to remain ketogenic and prevent the buildup of fat due to the high-fat MANS diet. I believe a couple of musclehackers were going to try this a few months ago, but I don't remember hearing back on it. For GLAD or MANS, remain 300 calories over maintenance. Excess calories builds excess weight.

Oh you mean like what I did?

I'd say picking up 8lbs of muscle and a bit over a pound of fat in 9 weeks means 60g/day of carbs on MANS worked just perfectly fine... :lol:

So I can go with 60g/day of carbs......what workout plan did you use to gain 8 pounds of muscle in 9 weeks?

Great to hear, JoH! Having now accomplished it at 60g, do you have a sense on what would be the uppermost effective carb limit on MANS? I'm guessing 60g must be just about there (give or take a little depending on LBM, of course).
