off track for a week!

Postby GT_907 on Thu Apr 30, 2009 3:32 am

well, long story short. I have just been eating pretty much anything I wanted the last week and gained about 3 lbs. of blubber on my stomach area. Okay, maybe not 3 lbs. exactly but I am getting blubbery in that area.

How long would it take for my body to start burning fat as fuel again?
I was doing so good until I started using too many protein shakes, not working out enough, working out incorrectly and ended up just getting a little blubbery. Still strong but not as cut as before.

Do I have to do the whole 12 day induction phase again?? strictly no carbs??

Welcome back! If that's the worst thing that ever happens in your life, you should be so lucky. How long it takes depends on you. Probably just a few days. Don't do no carbs though. Do 30 net grams per day, with most of them being from vegetables.

Maybe do a little bit of cardio to burn off some of those extra carbs, but don't do long extended sessions that put you in a catabolic state.

We've all done it. You learn from your mistakes & move on with your life. :D

I think I will go a little less saturated fat this time. I ate so much of it during my first stint, thinking that I needed it that I just got sick to my stomach of it! I'll moderate the fat intake some, more protein, more salads, steamed veggies, more lean meats, more variety and a little bit more carbs allowed on my low carb days. Less protein shakes overall.. I think that should do the trick.. too strict and I feel like eating captain crunch in red bull all day long! lol...

If it's any consolation, I've been very erratic in following my plan for the past three weeks, as well. It's like 5 meals of appropriate eating and 1 meal of "OMFGWTFBBQ candy candy yum yum". Despite that daily stupidity, I've still been dropping weight slowly.

Forcing myself back on-plan and getting over the guilt of not living the way I want to live -- and, more importantly, not following the very advice I give! -- is discouraging and difficult. But we can get there.

Just keep moving forward, and don't throw a whole day out because of one bad meal. Get back on-plan the moment you're done with eating the wrong stuff, hop back on that scale, break out the tape measure, and keep up the daily diligences. You're going the right way; just don't let a temporary setback cause you to throw in the towel.

Be better. Not perfect.

Regards,
Matt B.
