saturate fat

Postby krs on Sat Apr 25, 2009 5:44 pm

I like to add 2xtbsp of Extra Virgin Olive Oil into a protein shake to bump up the fat count when I go on the anabolic diet.1xtbsp has 15g of fat with 2.1g saturates so 2xtbsp is 4.2g saturates. If I have 3 protein shakes that would be 12.6 saturates not counting saturates from fish, meat, eggs and so on. How much saturate fat should you consume on the anabolic diet or should you just concentrate solely on getting high fat count.

don't worry about it. saturated fat is extremely beneficial. for instance it boosts testosterone.

Are you putting this oil into your post workout shakes? Because that defeats the purpose of having a fast-digesting protein.
I don't think you need to worry about eating too much saturated fat. http://www.musclehack.com/the-saturated ... destroyed/

Thanks for the reply. The trouble is that I have always been told too much saturate is bad for you, it's like being slowly brainwashed by adverts on TV and magazines so you get confused.

I use the shakes as snacks with a hand 25-30g of nuts. Not for PWO

The common phrase I've heard around here is "how is that advice working out for you?" Fact is, the small blood lipid effect of saturated fat is overwhelmed by the tremendous benefit of a low-carbohydrate diet; you can lower your triglycerides and small LDL even further by reducing saturated fat, but why would you when trying to build muscle? Check out my blood test thread for an idea of how an obese, pre-diabetic adult male can bring his blood profiles back into just a hair above "optimum" levels through low-carbing:

diet/blood-test-week-off-t584.html

If you're low-carbing, your body is burning up the vast majority of saturated fats as fuel.

what happens to the heavily oxidized and damaged cholesterol and fats? say from frying and browning meats??

i eat my meats fairly often fried in a pan in olive oil then not. Usually under medium heat then lowering it until cooked.
