starting monday...need advice

Postby grimdatta88 on Fri Apr 10, 2009 5:50 am

ok so i took a week off weights and im going to start the tspa diet and HIT program for cardio this monday........I am a bit excited for this.....there's still some things i need to clear up though

i keep reading about in the forums how red meat is good.......so i can just eat beef....ground beef and and it'll actually be beneficial?

since im going to be weight training wouldn't i need more protein

since i have 155 pounds lean mass i need to consume about 194 g of protein according to the diet, but shouldn't i eat more? since im weight training im not too sure about this

also i take a certain protein its called lipotropic protein and its from lg sciences, not sure if i can take this....also i take casein protein.....i have no idea if this is a good idea on this diet.........i think i read somewhere in the forum that liquid proteins cause an insulin spike not too sure about this

now for my weekdays im going to be eating spread out through 6-7 meals

berries of all sorts,
low carb wraps
veggies.....im thinking, lettuce, cabbage, broccoli and asparagus, never really ate asparagus before
tomatoes

now for protein......chicken, tunafish, ground beef, eggs

and fat from olive oil, flaxseed oil, mayonnaise, cream cheese, fish oil

and when i carb up, cereal, bread, rice all that good stuff

now since im a beginner whats some good advice you guys can give me........like things i should watch out for......any foods that you guys eat thats cheap and convenient......

Not necessarily. Some programs put you on 2g per pound of lean body weight. The jury is out as to whether that's effective or not.

shouldn't i eat more?

If your goal is to put on mass, sure, why not? It's your body; it's your science project. Measure, Experiment, Measure, Adjust, Repeat. You'll find a good level for yourself. That guideline is just a starting point; your body tells you where you should be based on your results.

All excess protein gets converted to glucose by your liver, creating an insulin response usually 2-4 hours after ingestion. Liquid proteins just get there quicker and spread it out less. Eat as much whole food as you can, and try to restrict your liquid protein to on or two servings per day.

Take every measurement you can think of today, and plan to do it again in a month to see how you're doing. If you put on fat, clean up your carb-ups and reduce insulin-producing behavior during the week. If you put on muscle and no fat, but didn't lose fat, then congratulations! Good job bulking, keep it up or drop your carb-ups a tad to reduce fat.

I wish I'd been willing to do that when I was at my heaviest (270+lbs). I wasn't willing to take pictures until I'd already dropped the first fifty pounds.
