What type of fruits can i eat on low carb day?

I just started this diet,i got to a point where i look like i want to built and wide but now i just want to lean up and get some deffinition,im eating low carbs and high fat/high protein,and i've been snacking on peaches strawberries,and pears in between my meals,and i just want to know if their the right type of fruits or do they have too much sugars for low carb diets,could some one please help really appreciate it. thanks 619jrod

Yes, too many. You can probably include a small serving of berries or melon per day, depending on the net carbs. Check the carb counts here: http://www.carb-counter.org/fruit/

In general, however, fruit is not part of low carb days.

You can spread 1 apple around the day - 20g. In Altman's The Company, there's a subtle scene where a dancer passes on strawberries.

Here are some treats that I manage to sneak into a low-carb day here or there:
* Clementine Orange. At around 8g of net carbs, they work in fine.
* Atkins Advantage Bars. Only certain ones qualify, as they still have carbs, but 7g-10g can work out fine.
* Strawberries. It's really easy to over-eat these, so use a gram scale to make sure you're hitting "1 serving size".
* Half a cup of blueberries, blackberries, or raspberries fits nicely under 10g of carb after fiber.
* Mix any of the above berries with some spinach for one of Michelle's famous Spinach Smoothies for a great taste (or with some whey to sweeten it up a bit)!

In general, yes, avoid most fruits. But a half-serving or one serving of many small fruits, particularly berries, can fit in. It's easier if you bump your carb allowance to 40-60g/day rather than 30, though :)

If you can, I would remove all fruits until the weekends. While some may be "carb-friendly" the sweetness is too much of a temptation. I have learned to eat the same thing every single day, I look to the carb loads for liberation.

:lol: Oh, now they're famous, huh? Score! Well, I have to say I haven't really been putting berries in mine lately, but I do put in the banana flavoring and the Torani syrup (current favorite-- peach!).

Also, since I've been toying with the idea of trying an anti-candida diet (alternating with binges on sugary foods right now, but that's a story for a different day!), I've discovered a new "trick". If you like cider, try a tablespoon of unfiltered, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar in a pint of water with a drop of sucralose/stevia. It won't look like cider, and it'll have a mild vinegary hint still, but dang if it doesn't remind me of drinking apple cider! As for me, I'm still fighting against the mayhem that has ensued as a result of trying the carb-ups. I may be screwing up left, right, and center, but I ain't giving up!

Maybe the small amount of berries in a smoothie would help me get back on track. It's an idea worth trying-- anything'd be an improvement over chocolate chunk cookies and other crap that has no business going into my body! At least berries have some useful nutritional value that my body can use.
