whipping cream all the way?

Postby beow2k5 on Fri Jun 19, 2009 4:24 am

Recentlyt I noticed that i have been a bit slacking off cooking so most of my protein comes from the protein powder. My question is that once i have gotten enough protein for the day, all i need is fat, and I know this sounds a bit lazy but would it be alright for me to just get my fat intake of the day from whipping cream?(and some olive oil). It is 0 carb and I have no problem drinking it down. I know it doesn't have any nutrient but i already taking bunch of vitamins daily.
So could whipping cream be my main supply of fat without any negative impact on my muscle growth?

This was a sad affair for me to learn... whipping cream has 1/2 gram of carbs per tablespoon. So, don't forget to take that into account. Trust me on that one, I have been up and down the road about these hidden carbs.

I don't think that drinking protein powder 100% is a good idea, because the body will recruit excessive amounts of protein as glucose! Added to that, powder is quick to absorb so you're not getting a timed release of amino acids.

If you are going to do this (protein powder), try mixing each drink with some portion of oils/fats...

This is what I do for my nighttime shake.
Protein Powder (zero carb)
14 grams safflower oil
14 grams peanut, canola or olive (I prefer peanut or canola)
1 TBSP heavy cream (1/2 carb)
1/2 serving of 100% frozen strawberries (6.5 grams carbs)
10 grams of L-glutamine
Blend that up in a blender. The fat should help slow down the absorption of the protein and also provide you with a constant flow of fat energy.

That's my advice, aside from EAT MEAT! :) Defrosted, a 6 oz salmon patty can be microwaved for 3 minutes, 15 seconds and topped with some ranch dressing and give you a satisfying and healthy meal... add some steamed broccoli with butter (cooked in the microwave) and you're golden.

Heavy cream definitely qualifies as "real food". It's been part of the human diet a very, very long time, and most of us tolerate it just fine. Particularly if it's part of raw milk from various animals. I love how it can be mixed with various stuff to bump up the fat count.

Tuna mixed with thick cream instead of mayo is awesome. By far my favourite way of eating canned tuna.

You, sir, are a genius!! 1 tablespoon of mayo - 100 calories. 1 tablespoon of cream - 50 calories. Woo-hoo!

Just don't over do it or it's a bit sickly. Adding somethign like spinach and pine nuts takes the edge off the sweetness too, a nice addition.

Hope you enjoy it :) Make sure it's the really thick cream though, I reckon liquid cream would be weird.
