Teh w00tZ!

This is actually my second one, so it's kinda lamer because I was more fatigued, but my DH said I really did just rock out the first one fully.

And now, for my next goal-- one-armed pullups! ;)

I did 1 pullup with 17.5kg resistance yesterday (I was checking my maxes) so some celebration for me too!!yeah.. :D

Hey,wait! I don't want to be a prick :geek:,but I am a kind of with exercise technique:
1)start from a fully extended arm position.Having legs on floor gives you assistance and makes you start from a not extended arm(and lat) position.
2)do not use any momentum,do not move the rest of your body.
3) if you do not do the negative part of the lift(lowering your body again into extended position without momentum) the rep does not count.
4) The most difficult type of pullup is with overhand grip where biceps are in weak position, the more you twist your wrist to contract the biceps the stronger your grip becomes for the pullup. Anyway this is not so important since a pullup is a pullup with any grip. Overhand grip is just more difficult.

I hope I did not discouraged you.
I know you can do it. :D

Are you competiting in strongman events?
That's great! I wish we had something like that here.

No, but my husband's an athlete competing in Highland Games competitions. He had one in November, one last weekend, and one this coming weekend, with a couple more coming up in about a month. Between that and work and going to law school, he's quite a busy guy!

You didn't discourage me. I'm a stickler for good form too and would gladly explain it to anyone who asks when I see them at the gym doing it wrong. If that circumstance ever occurs, I'll let you know.

I'm glad you took the time to explain proper form to any new people who may not know how to do it, but I achieved the goal I set out to achieve. This is my experiment. You may recall that I have hypermobile shoulders and do physical therapy in place of any shoulder weightlifting, I don't do anything from a dead hang and I don't go as deep as some people on my dips either. It's just a reality that I have to modify the pull-up or I will rip my shoulders out of their sockets. I will never do them with my arms fully extended and I will never do them with an overhand grip.

As I said, this video was my pre-fatigued 2nd pull-up. Thank goodness I have a witness for my first rep also who can attest that I did complete a full body-weight pull-up.

Ah,ok then.I understand this completely since I had a shoulder problem too and did many weeks to do pullups again. Doing the ROM that is comfortable and the form that is biomechanically right for you is the way to go definately. But you should have told in the beginning because I commend at what I see. :D

Well, I shouldn't have assumed people would remember our discussions about my joint/connective tissue issues. I knew somebody was going to make the comments you made anyway, and given that, I'm happy it was someone I'm on friendly terms with. ;) Besides, it's not like comments were going to hurt my feelings anyway. I don't come to these fora without first putting on my big girl panties. :P

I am lucky that I am not spinach!

You know that everything I say to you is friendly and that I respect you a lot.

I know from first hand shoulders problems.I have come close to dislocate my right delt 3 times.Once in a volleyball match, second in a kickboxing training and third with weights during an overhead exercise.I can even feel how I felt then while I'm writing this.... :(

Congrats! I am slowly working my way toward hammering out 20 pull-ups, and it's such a challenge to keep increasing your reps, or even getting to the point of being able to do one full body-weight pull-up!

Way to go, Michelle!

Damn Matt, 20? That's hard enough for a skinny little dude like me - putting us to shame here.
