Lost Weight and having issues with sides and stomach..

Postby NInman112 on Tue Sep 22, 2009 7:39 am

So I started at 230lbs almost five months ago I think? Probably closer to four, but besides that... I'm down to 190 and staying steady at it which is fine, been gaining plenty of muscle in the past two months with protein shakes and cycling creatine for 3 days on and off.. Everything is going great I am happy with where I am heading, haven't been in this good of shape in, well, never.... but I do have one issue... The extra weight/flab or what ever you want to call it around my stomach/sides.. I'm not expecting it to disappear instantly, but I was wondering if there's certain things I should focus on to try to get rid of it..... I'm not expecting a miracle especially since, from what I hear, those are the areas that loose the weight last.... But still wanted to check to see if anyone has any tips... :?:

-Thanks, Nick

just keep at what you're doing... it's not possible to spot reduce fat from any area, especially not your abs. genetically your body has a predisposition to store fat the most in three places: your glutes, thighs and abdominal region. all you can do is eat right, work hard, and eventually it'll go away.

that being said, the abs are the hardest place to get rid of fat (for some reason... :x ), and the lower your body fat gets, the more it's gonna wanna hang onto it. towards the end, it's gonna seem like you'll never get rid of it, but it'll happen. just stick to your guns

Wow! Awesome progress!

NInman112 was right, you just have to get your bodyfat around 10% or so to see abs (depends on the person, some people can see them higher). To add to what he said, I've heard certain things like high fructose corn syrup and such can not only encourage your body to store fat, but to store more around the abdominals. I've also heard that beer/alcohol can tend to relax your abdominals, making it look like you've got more bodyfat than you do. But, I only 'heard' those... there's lots of rumors out there. You won't lose anything by avoiding those two though.
