Good afternoon all new to forum, can anybody help, i started training again after 17 years off in September last year. i train 4 days per week on a split routine, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, routine is all basic compound movements, have put on some mustle over that period and my strength has increased, i train legs once per week as my legs respond well, the other body parts works out to be every 5 days, all seems to be going ok but i have problems with retaining bodyfat, i have had this problem all my life, especially on my Chest, my typical days food would be, Breakfast 40grams oats with Blueberries and Almonds in, 2 scoops whey isolate protein, 11am, 8oz chicken breast in Pitta bread and lettice, the same at 2pm, 4pm would be 2 scoops whey protein shake, on non training days 6.30pm Turkey or steak with vegatables or Brown Rice, 9.pm whey shake with some peanut butter. on training days the same but a shake after training is added.
my current age is 44 and i weight 225lbs, my waist is 34 so not excessive, my shape is changing but seem to be having problems loosing the fat of my chest, everywhere else seems to be moving. do you think my carb intake is to high? my protein is fine for my bodyweight.
i would be gratefull for any help as the gym i use is not the best for nutritional information.

thank you

Hi & welcome to the forum.
You may simply consuming too many calories , but I'm wondering why you put fat on your chest? I'm a similar age and like you, I'm just getting back into it, but my fat goes around the middle.
I can shift it with cardio (ugh) and lactic acid training, which will cause a release of hormone to fight off more flab.
I've also added more EFA's to my diet (extra virgin oilve oil & fish oil caps) and the fat seems to be going (slowly).
One tip you might like to try is cut out the carbs on your non-training days and see if that helps. The addition of more efa's in your diet will programme the body to burn fat for fuel.
BTW, I'm no sculpted, ripped to shreds model at the moment as I'm gaining mass and don't care too much about a bit of fat.
It's all in where your goals lie long term.
Hope this helps

Thanks for that, i do put fat on all over but my chest seems more, you may be right on the carbs on non training days as i work in an office all day, so most of the day i sit down looking at my computer. i have cut the carbs down over the last few weeks with no effect on my energy, think i can cut further so will try that over the next few weeks, i do take fish oil caps everyday, i have just started on the Whey isolate rather than other protein powders that might help.

There is no special technique to remove fat around the chest. Just like any other part of the body, you remove fat through exercise and the reduction of calories.

How will eating less fat remove fat around the chest? Dietary fat is not where body fat comes from. Period. End of story.
Low-carb and low-fat together is a recipe for disaster.
If low-carb is working for you then stick with it and wait it out (just don't cut the vegetables-- those are non-negotiable carbs! ). The fat loss will come.
