Twelve-Week Challenge: June 2009

Postby triple on Fri May 29, 2009 6:32 pm

It looks like the March 2009 challenge is done; who's in for the June 2009 challenge?

I'm in. Just going by the Omron for this challenge, plus photos. My goal is to maintain muscle mass while cutting body fat. I'm going to go by my last progress photo from the March to May challenge as my current photo :)

Weight: ~218 lbs
Body fat: ~23%

Starting off right with a Fat Flush/Fat Fast to jump-start my progress, and will be hitting the gym hard tonight to get back in the swing of lifting after a 9-day break. Since I had such problems with carb-ups on TSPA last time and basically no fat loss at all to speak of, I'm going back to the "old" TSPA loss plan: no carb-ups at all.

Note that I don't think it's a reflection on TSPA itself that I lost no fat last cycle; I think it's my poor compliance rate that cost me any losses. My compliance is much better if I regard sugar as rat poison :)

I guess that's one way of looking at it...

I'm going to post stats on Wednesdays, because that should give time for any excess weight from weekend carb-ups to be banished. Pictures will be coming once my damn memory card for the camera reappears...

My goal is to gain muscle mass; if body fat is cut in the process, that's great - but I'm going to focus on building, ideally at least .5lb of lean mass a week. That's going to be hard to determine before about a month passes, but it's something to push for.

Maybe we should have some sort of award for whoever achieves their goals, like a lifetime supply of hamburger meat or something...

I'm in for this challenge. I generally do measurements on Friday/Saturday morning.

As of last Friday 05/29/09:
Weight: 256.5
Body Fat: 28%
Waist: 44.5
Chest: 48
Shoulders: 55
Thigh: 25
Calf: 16.5
Bicep: 16.5
Bicep (Flex): 18.5
Forearm: 13.5
Wrist: 7.5
Neck: 18

This week is my STOP week and I'll be going out of town at the end of the month so I don't plan to actually start another 10 week program until early July. In the meantime I'll be doing some cardio and trying out some different weights to determine what my new routine will be.

Age: 32

Alright, here's the best measurements I could get with my high-tech combination of ruler and string:

Neck 15.5
Shoulders 49
Bicep 13
Bicep (flex)14.75
Chest 38
Waist 31.5
Ass 38
Thigh 23
Calf 13.5
Forearm 11.75
Wrist 7.25

... and the gym scale said my weight was about 179, which can't be right since the scale at my college (the one the wrestling team uses) put me at about ~172, and my scale at home put me a few pounds lighter than that. Nonetheless, I'll be tracking progress on this scale - so 179 it is.

I use my Wii Fit. It's slightly more optimistic than my gym scale, but has one trait of inestimable worth: I can roll out of my bed and use it first thing in the morning. And the tracking is pretty cool, too, it's been fun watching my weight creep down from 251 to today's 215, while the calipers have indicated I've put on about 15 pounds of muscle in the same time frame...
