thinking of adding yoga to my program

Postby beow2k5 on Fri Jul 02, 2010 3:18 am

After being on Mark's program for about 1.5yrs, I have gained quite sizable amount of mass. Something I am starting to notice is that my body feel a lot more rigid after adding those muscles (it's that or not enough stretching @@). So I was wondering if doing a bit of yoga training, like twice a week, would actually be really beneficial in terms of my flexibility & maybe improve my body's muscle recovery? Does anyone on the forum do yoga regularly alongside with their weight training?

I used to do pilates which was great, and it's certainly not easy. It's performed by the Australian and NZ rugby teams, amongst other sports teams. I recommend it highly, I only stopped because of the time commitment required which doesn't fit my schedule. Yoga is more of a lifestyle choice. A lot of my friends do yoga along with meditation and they are super flexible (but very thin!) but I can't say the whole concept is for me.

There is nothing weird or strange about yoga that I've heard or experienced. What have you heard or experienced? For the record I've been doing yoga for years and I still eat meat, drink vodka, lift heavy and think everyone should be able to own a gun.

I don't know it's like that later on the more you get into, it becomes too spiritual. And not spiritual in a good way, it's like you're allowing bad energy into your body. I mean, if you go there just to stretch and don't take it seriously as in 'mind', then I guess it doesn't matter.
