protein

Postby steven39 on Sat Jul 12, 2008 9:56 pm

heya, im 17 and currently at school. because of this i dont eat between having breakfast (7:30) and lunch (12:00). Lunch tends to be rather low in protein due to the nature of school meals (small portions and such) so i usually dont get anythin until i get home. this means on a school day i can go up to maby 6-7 hours without consuming some decent protein. could any one suggest anything i could take in with me to give a little boost through the day? some days i dont even get half the protein i should and i'm kinda worried about developing a mild deficiencey, any 1 know of any syptoms i should watch out for just in case?? :?

thanx in advance

Perhaps some kind of salami-bar could help. I usually take 2 with to school.
Sometimes I take a pack of cottage cheese and almonds with me.
On rare occasions I also pack in some berries.
How about a can of tuna? Or some breaded chicken? There are lots of possibilities.

If you're not living the low-carb lifestyle and just want the protein you could make a (whole grain) turkey sandwich with eggs.

Hope that gave you some inspiration... I'm feeling uncreative at the moment :D

How about Mark's protein bar recipe? You could make that in the dorm even.

Also, one of the smaller coffee thermoses could hold a protein shake you make in the morning and have with you. You could make it in a larger thermos with a couple extra scoops of protein powder and add some heavy cream and drink it for multiple meals.

Also, hard boiled eggs travel very well.
