couple of questions?

Postby kal-el on Sun May 03, 2009 12:16 am

i have read manns diet and the anabolic solution, but there are still a couple of things im unsure of. im hoping, someone here can help.
questions 1 i have read that fat blunts your GH levels, so im a bit confused about this, this diet is all about reducing insulin and having a higher GH level but if fat blunts GH wouldn being on a hi fat diet hinder what were trying to do on this diet?

question 2 milk, im assuming that as long as you include this in your daily carbs then thats fine?

after re-reading these books recently, i think i have pretty much been eating in this style without realising it, my usual diet during the week is, glass of milk some fruit and vegies and mostly meat, no breads or pastas. but i dont think i have a carb up as big as what this diet suggests as my higher carb i sort of have one high carb meal normally a pizza and then followed by some ice cream then its back to the usual way of eating. i havnt lost alot of fat im about 12-13%, pretty small muscle wise aswell. maybe i shold have more of a carb up weekend? i know i mentioned i havnt lost alot of fat but now im down to this size my goal has changed to trying to build some mass. thanks.

I started the anabolic diet lasts Monday, and my conclusion is stick to the basics of the diet. Monday to Friday 18 x body weight in cals broken down by 35% protein, 30grams of carbs and 60% fat. Now after 12 days on low carbs is Saturday & Sunday start to carb load around 10% protein, 60% carbs, and 30% of fats and that’s it really. After 4 weeks you decide cutting phase or bulking phase I think I read you must not let your body fat go higher than 10% while bulking on this diet.

Do not care so much about GH. Even if I don't really believe that high fat consumption reduces GH production, Testosterone has much better effect on body composition(protein synthesis and lipolysis) than GH(and IGF-1). Where GH is really important is in the first years of someone's life and in teen years(and now that I am thinking, a person in their first years(1-2) consume a really high fat diet(including breast milk which is high in fat (4.2g fat/100ml)-so I don't think it is a false of nature. GH promotes sarcomere hyperplasia as well but very few people will benefit from hyperplasia through strength training.
