Weight Loss

Postby devidmike on Wed Jun 03, 2009 12:25 pm

Okay, I'm looking to lose a few pounds before the Spring Break season.

I currently work out 3-5 times a week but I can't seem to lose the belly, I'm 6'2 200. I'd like to get down to 185 or so, are there any good supplements to take before or after my workout?

Working out improves your health, musculature, and appearance. It does not give you a six-pack or remove body fat without a diet program.

What you need to do to cut out that pooch belly is to watch every single thing that goes into your mouth. Mark McManus sells his "Total Six-Pack Abs" program for that purpose... but there are a lot of free alternatives out there, too. One that I enjoy from time to time is Kris Gethen's Twelve-Week Transformation program, but P90X and others will do the job if you NAIL THE DIET.

Key to a six-pack: diet, diet, diet. Cardio helps, as does resistance training, but diet is 90% of getting rid of your excess body fat. No supplement will make you lean on its own.

Abs and muscles are 20% what you lift and 80% what you eat, unless you're a genetic freak (which none of us are, or we wouldn't be on this forum), or unless you spend 5 hours a day running on a treadmill after eating a saltine cracker for breakfast (and burning off any muscle you might have had). Stick with the first option, and you can find plenty of information about what to eat on these forums. Best of luck!

Welcome! I don't know about supplements, but I think that doing more cardio can help with losing the belly. And now if that would work with my butt...LOL!
