I received my latest blood test a few weeks ago and I'm very happy to report that I am no longer hypertensive nor pre-diabetic. I'm now a "normal" overweight person.
Three years ago my doctor told me he was sorry that he had to make a notation in my chart that I was mildly obese. He then prescribed several medications to control diabetes, high blood pressure, gout and low potassium. I had sleep apnea, couldn't stand or walk for long periods and would go out of my way to take the elevator to avoid walking up a flight of stairs. Without the motivation to change, things got worse over time.
I've been eating low carb w/ THT for the past 8 months and feel 10x better. I used to need a low carb monster energy to boost my energy after lunch. I gave those up 4 months ago. I don't have any of the issues that I had last year at this time.
My last blood test was in November 2008. Here's a comparison between then and now.
Glucose:
Was - 90
Now - 84
Total Cholesterol:
Was - 200
Now - 178
HDL:
Was - 35
Now - 43
LDL:
Was - 139
Now - 113
I've still got a way to go. I'd like to lose 30 more pounds of fat, lower my total cholesterol while raising my HDL. I'm definitely motivated to continue.
I'm not sure how many others here are over fat and may be (or have been) in my situation. Stay encouraged!
