The Arm Blast Experiment!

Hi all, :)

We're going to be using this thread to gather the students for the online arms experiment.

Like I said in the blog post, "I want enthusiasm, passion and a willingness to REALLY go for it."

Can you really gain 1/2 inch on your arms in a week? I aim to find out!

So use the 'PostReply' button to leave some info about yourself e.g.

age
sex
length of time training
why you want to participate (optional)


Please ensure that you meet the criteria I stated in the post...

* Know what training to REAL failure is and already do this on a regular basis.

* Be prepared to take next week OFF training (except for the arm training itself). This current week (commencing Monday 16 November 2009) will be your last week of regular training. Next week you will train 1 day only - the arm workout I will give you.

* Be on a bulking cycle i.e. not currently cutting.

* Have a tape measure or myotape and be prepared to take daily arm measurements.

* Must own or have access to the following equipment:

- Floor pulley i.e. a machine with a pulley on the bottom of the frame, mostly used for cable rows

- Preacher Curl Bench

- Preferably, the following attachment: Stirrup cable attachment

- Barbell/Dumbbells

* Be willing to do what I say i.e. there may be temptation to do more or less than what I recommend. To find out whether or not this protocol works as effectively as I think it might, you need to stick to the program as designed.

* A positive attitude and an ability to self-motivate yourself is always nice too ;)


I'll then PM the guys who are to take part with further instructions.

Hello Mark I am up for the challenge. I am doing your workout routine at the moment so I am bulking up.

Age - 33
Sex - Male
Length of time training - bout 1 1/2 years
Why do I want to do it - To see if it works and I would like to bulk by arms up a bit. :D

Guess im the only one who thinks gaining 1/2 in is good? well im a 18yo male, 160lbs. have been exercising for 5 years consistently. the last year or so i have been doing the p90x program with great results. i'd like to see how your experiment will go, have all the necessary equipment and am ready to go. i have never given up during a workout so id be interested to see if you can make it happen.

Hi Mark,

I am 44 and will be 45 in one month. I have weight trained for years for fitness but now I want to prove to myself it is never to late or impossible to grow! I am working on getting into the best shape of my life and an additional 1/2" in my arms will go a long ways.

Hi, Mark - I would love to be part of this experiment. I am a 40 year old male and have been doing serious training for the past 2 years, though I've lifted and exercised for the last 8-10 years. My current goal is to compete in a bodybuilding show this coming April. I workout at a fantastic gym and have the necessary equipment available to me. But more importantly, I am extremely passionate about meeting my goals. I love pain, sweat, and sacrifice. It's all or nothing with me.

why you want to participate,
I am always looking for different ways to train, I love mixing things up so my training doesn't get stale and of course I am always looking for new ways to gain size.

I do meet your requirements and I always train to failure actually every set I do.
I hope I am chosen I look forward to trying this program.

Hey man I am totally up for this.
Info about me:
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Height: 5 foot 10 inches
Weight: 165 pounds
length of time traning: 45min to 1 hour (year wise about four)
Country: Canada
Supplements I am currently using for my bulking routine: Creatine and Baking Soda (I don't by wey protine but I do get my protine from good sources like fish, lean meat and deer meat which I personaly hunted and processed myself.

Why I want to do this: Well first I'll give you a little history of myself I have spastic cerebral palsy which weakens the left side of my body and makes it less coordinated. Also when I was in high school I weighed 280 pounds of fat. My senior year I got into martial arts and decided man I don't want to practice as a hevyweight o in a year I lost a bit over 115 pounds. Now I am in University and I have been following your site for six months and I have honestly been getting some decent muscle growth. However I have tried multiple programes and I just can't get my left arm to grow very much. That being said your program has helped me put on more muscle mass and tone than any previous programe so If you are offering I would love to give your arm muscle gain experiment a try.

Hi Mark,
my name is Chris Milando, I'm an 18 year old 1st year University Student from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and I'm interested in taking part in your experiment. I've been training hard for about 2 years now, and while I have certainly seen results already, I would love to continue to be making gains on my arms, which for are the hardest muscle group to make gains with (it's not that I am not making gains, just not as much as I would like to).
I'm about 5'4" and 145 pounds, so as long my bodytype is sufficient for your experiment, I'm all in.
I have access to everything necessary for your experiment, as our university has a gym in it, which I can access after my classes (which end at 5:30 in the afternoon at the latest), so I can work out any day you need me to.
I work out 5 days a week regularly and follow a healthy and protein/vitamin and mineral enriched diet, so I know what real training and sacrifice is, and I am prepared to take on anything you give me. I am on a bulking cycle as of now, and am drinking a lot of homo milk as part of the gomad diet, so I am not cutting as of now.
I hope I can help you in your experiment, and I am even more excited to see what kind of gains it will produce.

Why do I want to do it - Well, to be honest, I'm off to the beach for Christmas. So it would come in handy! Also, I suffer from small arms, much like you do/did Mark. My forearms in particular. So any arm gain would be welcomed.

The only issue is, I've just started a cutting cycle, about 4 days ago. I'm prepared to delay it for a couple of weeks for this, but whether that factor rules me out I don't know. If you could let me know sooner rather than later, that would be great, so that I know whether to stick to the cutting, or go back to bulking.

Either way I hope it's a success and I'll definitely be following it keenly.

Hi Mark.

Would love to take part to see if this works for an older guy - I'm 55! I have been training properly - to failure - for 7 years and seen excellent improvement to my previously unfit, flabby body. I am a qualified personal trainer and massage therapist (although I currently work as a therapist full time) with a huge interest in fitness and well-being, and am on a personal mission to prove that age does not necessarily bring with it a gradual deterioration in looks and fitness - I am in the best shape of my life!!

I'd be happy to abide by the rules for a week and can access all the necessary equipment that the gym where I work.

Oh yes, and half inch on my arms would be good, too!!
