giving up!

Postby eden1169 on Thu Mar 11, 2010 1:16 am

I'm ready to give up on this Low Carb diet bullshit!

I'm a 40 year old man and I've been LCing since December 28th 2009. I was very hopeful to drop some serious weight.I've done this diet in the past and was successful. I was weighing 218 lbs at the time. Today is March 10th and I weigh 203 lbs. I started weight lifting and doing cardio on January 21 2010 (however, I didn't start the THT program until Feb 02 2010). I eat 5 - 6 meals a day most of which is protein. If I eat carbs... I eat broc, cauliflower, avocado, strawberries, blueberries, almonds and the like. I'm pretty strict on what my food intake is and I think that's what has me very frustrated at the moment. I've put a lot of time and effort in this without any breaks and the only advantage I get is a 15 lbs loss in a 2 1/2 months...? Pitiful! my body fat has not changed much either I'm at 35.3% body fat.

What the heck is wrong with me? any insight is greatly appreciated. Low Testosterone maybe?

Depends on how you're training and whether you're regaining mass .
If you're getting stronger and bigger, you'll retain bodyfat (just like me) albeit not as much, as it's slowly being burnt.
Increasing testo will help to burn more fat if you're doing squats, deadlifts etc as these increase it naturally, but a little push from supps does help.
I've been using tribulis and I'm going to stack it with long jack as well as I'm over 40.

My attitude has improved since yesterday. I think it was just one of those moments when you want results to occur faster than what's happening. I am seeing more muscle mass I'm just pissed about my waist and trying to get rid of this lard. I've been thinking about long jack. How are you planing on stacking and how many?

Thanks for your reply!

As I think I'm naturally hormonal, (over 40, going bald, beer belly" but no love handles, hairy etc) I'm going to stack the long-jack and trib for 8 weeks, in combination with my creatine ee.

In those 8 weeks, I'm going back to nothing but heavy compound movements, even if I have to cheat with forced reps and shabby form.

If the hype about increasing testo is to be believed, I'll be seeing some serious results due to this.
Currently 15 stone (93kg) 6 foot tall, bodyfat 21% ? all on my belly

if your main focus is fat loss certain supplement will be very helpful to you too. When I am cutting body fat in between muscle building, I usually take green tea extract, CLA 80(if i remember the name correctly). I find these two supplement are fairly natural and doesn't really disturb the body much. I did try rapid cut at one point, while it certainly speed up things a bit more the side effect from it isn't so enjoyable ... Make sure don't let your stall in weight loss stress you, since stress IS a main factor of fat loss stall. TSPA has some really good insight on how to lose body fat efficiently if you are interested in details, fat loss really comes down to correctly tricking your body into doing what you want it to do.

by the way, if you are not careful with vegetables(broccoli, cauliflower), and berries, even nuts, you can easy exceed the carb count per day. I usually have a protein strawberry blend in the morning, and that's pretty much 10g of carbs already. The key to MANS is keeping the carb as low as possible, if your carb intake goes overboard, then the calorie that you get from fat might have a good chance of getting stored. (and too much protein intake will be converted into carbs too).

Thanks for the info and suggestions. Since my initial posting I've come to understand that one can easily convert excess protein to fat by over eating it (protein). I've broken down my protein needs on a per meal basis so i'm not over eating protein and guessing if I'm getting enough or not. I used my lean body mass weight to get this info. I've also cut back on my fruits and nuts I think I was over doing it in those areas. I've also seen some positive changes since my initial posting, so I can't give up. If anything, as it was mentioned, I have to chill out. This is not a destination but a journey. I think we get so wrapped up in seeing changes quickly and when that doesn't happen we tend to want to quit and revert back to our fat ways.

I'm now looking at taking 2 tablespoons of fish oil with every meal under the direction of my trainer. apparently I am not eating enough good fats to rid my body of its bad fat. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas behind this theory?

I like the stack to increase T levels. However, I also set up an appointment with my doctor for lab work to test my t levels as they are right now. This info will be used as a base line measurement. Once I start the stack T booster I will have lab work done again and check against my base line lab work.

I really appreciate the encouragement, suggestions and advice.

Fraternally,

Rick

I'm glad to see you're hanging in there! Even if you don't lose weight super-quickly (although I would kill for 1.5 pounds a week right about now! ), you are doing right by your body and giving it what it needs to be healthy!

+1 encouragement! :D
