Any thoughts on Zig Zag bulking?

Postby NYC Male on Tue Dec 27, 2011 8:36 pm

We've discussed Zig Zag cutting diet before, but I don't think we've discussed Zig Zag bulking (see link). Has anyone tried this?

I have played around with manipulating calorie intake to match activity levels like that but decided to just eat the same everyday for one very important reason. It maybe your off day but that does not mean your body is still not growing. Remember your muscle grows outside the gym and over days so why would you restrict your calories on those days? Does your body still not require and anabolic state to grow even on off days? So for me I would rather eat 200 to 300 calores over maintenance everyday to ensure my body is getting what it needs to grow. If your a hard gainer then you have to even eat more.

I'm a huge fan of zig zaggig but not on a day to day basis or even a week to week basis. Day to day calore cycling, as you say ,missis out on your body being in a growth setting and making the use of the extra calories even on your days off. I don't like to cut or build for more than about 8 weeks without a short reversal, even if it only for 2 to 4 weeks of a swithch. I find the switch always trigger greater and quicker results. So if i'm cutting for eight weeks and then i build for 4, during that 4 weeks my strength and muscle size jut shoot up. Then if i go bak o cuttig the ft ust mlts off again. For me ti is th best way to either cut or build.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the input. I had some of the same concerns as you.

Even so, I'm still going to try it... just to see if it works for me (because everyone's body responds differently). If not, then I'll probably try what you guys are doing. Thanks, again. :)
