Are dozens of exercises really necessary for a great body?

Do we really need to do ten different exercises for each muscle group to have a great body? Obviously, I don't mean that you do all variations in the same workout... but just generally. It seems that most workout regimes suggest five different exercises (or more) for triceps, biceps, etc... but is that really necessary?

And, if not... if you could create the simplest exercise regime possible... that would be the most effective... what exercises would you include?

There are loads of great but simple training systems around. Marks THT is one of them. I use it and love it but i changed some of the exercises to one i perfer. For example i don't like cable preacher curls because i can't feel the bicep properly when i am doing them so i do drag curls instead. Crusafix curls are another favourite of mine with cables. The PHAT system is another good one. I would say any work out that involves to many exercises is suspect. Simple is almost always the best.
