Just a noob! Questions about a few things.

Hey guys I am new here, I am really grateful to have stumble upon Marks information, it is EXTREMELY helpful. Right now Im over 250 lbs. Im not sure how to do body fat percentage but Im sure its not good. Funny thing is I used to be built really well, I used to skate, run, and kayak on a regular basis. Now that I am 31, married and have two kids I went from 185 at my prime to 280 or so, all at 6' 1".
Ive made the first steps, I am quitting smoking, I am doing the induction of atkins, and I have rode my mountain bike for the past week about an hour each day. I am starting weights tomorow.
Will the lbs. melt or will I be battling the metabolism slow down from quitting the smokes?

Mark has a lot of great info to help on fat loss. Check out this article:

http://www.musclehack.com/fat-loss-secr ... all-again/

This help you understand to start out slow and steady rather than diving into hour long cardio sessions from day 1 which will be great a first but may cause to you it a pleteau eventually. You can control your metaoblism with you eating once you get a set program in place so throw down the smokes and don't look back. :o Follow Mark's guidelines and you will not even notice a slow down in metaoblism. ;) Good luck!

^some good info there... i would also add that you shouldn't measure in pounds if you're gonna be lifting weights. odds are you are gonna be gaining muscle when you lift, so the "pounds" prolly won't go away. that being said, if you keep eating right and training right, the fat probably will melt off. you'll notice a difference in your body composition, but not so much on the scales... good luck!
