Lifting hook usage question

Postby beow2k5 on Mon Apr 19, 2010 2:46 am

Today I finally got the lifting hook I ordered on eBay and like a kid with new toy I tried as many exercis ad I can with it. I was excited to do dumbell shrug with the hook since I had gotten to the weight where my grip is not strong enough anymore. With the hook I was able to go over my 90 lb limit and do 100 lb on each hand with very good form. However after 3 sets to failure, I did not feel my trap or deltoid is worked at all, which is very unatural. I did end up with hurting wrist. This makes me wonder if I am doing it wrong with the hook, I was expecting high tension focused on my trap and deltoid... Anyone else has the same problem with lifting hook?

Have you changed the way you do your exercise, since you got the hooks (i.e. are you lifting with your arms)? If not, then wait another day. When I got my hooks, I could lift a lot more weight but didn't really feel it until the next day or two when that delayed onset muscle soreness kicked in.
