Postby aussie72 on Sat Jul 16, 2011 7:38 am

Hi to all first I'm new to muscle building and need advice on where to start.
I'm 174 cm high , 78 Kg weight and 21.4 % body fat
My question is should I start muscle build program or should I first get my body fat down and
What kind of program should I start with?

Thank you in advance ?

Depends on what you think you would prefer to be honest - You're stats say that you are about 5'9" and have 134lbs of lean muscle mass - If you decide to cut now rather than bulk you'll probably look pretty skinny.
If I were in your position I think I would choose to bulk up a bit first following THT and either GLAD or MANS for the diet, then when I had a decent amount of muscle cut back using TSPA.

However you may think you'll look better losing the weight first then bulking up - Horses for courses.

Is it ok with THT to bench press with dumbbells instead of barbel?

I think you will get a few different responses to that question. Personally I work out alone most of the time, so for me it makes since to use dumbbells as opposed to a barbell. What really pushed me over the edge on making the switch came after my first cycle of THT. I felt like I had hit a plateau with my bench press (barbell). Part of the reason, in my opinion, is I don't feel like I was pushing quite as hard as I would have if I had a spotter. So I switched over to dumbbells and now I feel like I push harder knowing that if I can't lift it all I have to do is drop the dumbbells to the floor. I don't have to worry about getting the bar to the first set of pegs or doing the whole "roll of shame". Anyway, that is just my opinion so take it for what it is worth "an opinion". I am sure other more qualified people will chime in with better advice. Good luck, and happy lifting!

Thanks for reply and advice. I don't like barbel because it gives me twitch in my shoulders plus Im using dumbbells as they give me natural range of movement. I train at home like you simply because in gym were I'm member is always so busy and I cant get hang off weights or have to wait to long some times so mainly Im doing it at home. Well I just started on THT 4 Cycle 1 so will push hard .Thanks
