Hi,

I like LifeTime because it's spaced out and has lots of different machines. It's $50 a month including inside/outside pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, rock climbing, basketball, etc... It's a good place and swimming would be a good cardio if you need it. Cardinal Fitness is one of the best common, basic gyms out there and it's cheap. So, I'd say if you're low on money you simply go to a cheaper gym(without locker rooms and all that crap). But that depends on what gyms are nearby your place.
