If it's a knee and you have insurance (or not) get a doctor to look at it and either do an MRI or an X-ray.
There are so many things that can be wrong with a knee and the pain sometimes comes out in a different place.
I spent a year doing physical therapy with a PT that was ok/friendly but kept wanting me to get an MRI thinking it was a miniscus tear.
Well I finally went to a knee doctor and he just did an x-ray, saying that would tell him everything. And it did. I had lost my padding on my left knee because I am bowlegged over there and doctor said there might be torn cartelege but it doesn't matter to repair it since the padding is gone. Knee replacement sometime way in the future.

Then I went to a better PT and learned strengthening exercises for my quads (the right way). Then I went to lose 10 lbs to reduce tork and joined WW and lost 40 lbs and muscle and ended up somehow on MuscleHack.com and got my muscle back and now playing with TSPA. and bobs your uncle!
