SISSY SQUAT FOR A FINISHER!

Hey guys

I invested in a sissy squat and it arrived today, my leg day was today so it couldn't have arrived at a better time, so i went through my leg routine and finished off with the sissy squat going 12 15 reps 3 sets, it was only meant to be 2 sets but my first set was diabolical haha.

My overall view of this piece of machinery is it definitly is a good investment, not that hard to get use to the actuall overall movement and i wouldn't say as of yet that it's as effective as single leg squats on the smith machine but it definitlly brought up alot more vascularity than i thought it would, my veins where popping out like crazy and really did give me an awesome pump, it'll be interesting to see if this subsides after a few workouts or if it gets better as i start introducing plates, dont know if i would use it as a warm-up excercise as i think it would fatigue the quads too much, but yeah overall a great excercise for finishing off the quads :)

Last time I did sissy squats was also on a sissy squat machine at my gym which was a great as it takes out the balance problem. Can you give me a link to your sissy squat as I also like doing sissy squats as a finsher to shake thing up.

I did a leg workout using sisisy squats and made some great gains the workout below a & b are supersetted.

a) Squats x 4-6 reps
b) Leg Curl x 4-6 reps

a) Squats x 4-6 reps
b) Leg Curl x 4-6 reps

a) Squats x 4-6 reps
b) Leg Curl x 4-6 reps

Barbell Hack Squats Heels Elevated x 8-10 reps
Barbell Hack Squats Heels Elevated x 8-10 reps

Straight Legged Deadlift 6-8 reps
Straight Legged Deadlift 6-8 reps

a) Sissy Squats 15 reps
b) Leg Curl x 10-12 reps

a) Sissy Squats 15 reps
b) Leg Curl x 10-12 reps

After sissy squats you have to crawl to the leg curl but you will be surprise how quickly the pain subsides

I have also been looking through the Book “Target Bodybuilding” basically a study of the best exercise that use the most muscle targeted for an specific target using MRI.

For an entire leg quad and ham workout it outlines the following

Intermediate Thigh Program

Choose one exercise to work the entire quad.

Seated Knee Extension 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps
Or
Sissy Squat 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps

Then choose one of the following exercises.

Back Squat with narrow stance 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps
Or
front squat 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps

Then choose an exercise that heavily targets the adductors.

Hack Squat with feet in front of body 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps
Or
Hack Squat with feet under hips 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps
Or
Leg Press with feet high 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps
Or
Leg Press with feet low 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps

Finish by targeting the hamstrings.

Seated Leg Curl 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps

So you don't have to use sissy squats as a finisher.

I dont have a link to myself for vids or photos as my computer skills are disaster but here is where i bought it from www.gymratz.co.uk-sissysquatplatform, if you are from the uk these are nice guys called matt and pete who own this company.

Cheers for the heads up on that routine i must give it a try in the next couple of months looks awesome with the supersets, heres what im on at the moment

2 sets leg extension warmup 15 reps.

normal stance squat with chains added 3x6-8 reps
hack squat 3x6-8 reps
leg press 3x6x8 reps
sissy squat 2x12-15

Pretty basic routine but i am hitting my quads so so heavy with this workout each set is from standstill and my negative are 3 sec count with a 1 sec pause at the positive.
Give this a try sometime too krs, i recall you saying you hate leg press sometime ago but they really are a very very disreguarded excercise, my squat wouldn't be where it is today without the legpress, i do have to say it would be my strongest all round excercise.

Looks a decent leg routine LALA will certaily give it go, just one problem can't get me hands on those chains :( I do use the leg press evry now and then but do like my front squat and also getting back to using back squat after a lay off for about 4 months so not going to heavy on those yet but thanks for the leg routine always looking for an intense leg day.
