Sometimes I get headaches after my workout...

Hi guys. Sometimes I get headaches after my workouts. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? At first I thought it might be due to low carbs and/or lack of water retention... but I've increased my carbs a bit and it still happens occasionally... particularly on days that I do legs.

Any advice? Thanks!

NYC,

I found I got headaches frequently during workouts before I focused on proper breathing during reps. I found on some exercises I was holding my breath, instead of exhaling during exertion. They'd usually come on towards the end of my workout, but typically ended by the time I had finished my post-workout shake and cooled down.

Is that possible in your situation?

Other things that come to mind are crashing from caffeine/NO intake, overheating/dehydration, and carb deprivation crashes (usually at the end of the day).

Man, workouts are painful enough without adding a headache to the list! ;)

Thanks, LH. It doesn't happen all the time... maybe 1 out of 3 workouts, if even that. I'll try to pay better attention to my breathing, especially when I do legs... since it seems to happen when I really exert myself on leg days. Thanks again.

Hey NYC Male

LombieHerc is spot on with his suggeations it quite possibly be any of them although dehydratiion is screaming out at me, but when you are talking about leg day as being one of them, headaches can be quite the norm on this day, because its such a large muscle group it really shocks your central nervous system and the heart is put under alot of stress to pump much needed blood and oxygen arounded the body it can quite easily cause headaches so i wouldn't worry too much about it being medical, just adhere to lombieHerc suggestions and see what happpens but definitly try and get at least 1.5l of fluid into you during a session and the same after

This has happened to me as well. It's been enough to make me pale/sick before I really started focusing on my breathing.
