TA 3 results-how are people finding it?

Postby bootsyjam on Sat Jun 19, 2010 10:13 am

So it's been 6 weeks or so since TA3 came out, so there must be some thoughts on it out there.

How are people finding it? Are you making strength gains? Are you gaining muscle? What do you find good/bad about it? Any tips or hints?

I must admit that I haven't started it yet as remain unconvinced that 1 set per bodypart ( with the occasional extra set as per TA3 instructions) will be effective, but I'm open minded about it.

If anyone does bother to reply with advice/feedback, could you also give a rough idea of the diet that you're following-MANS etc, or just a more normal type?

Thanks in advance,
Bootsy

I'm getting stronger each workout, except my lats, which sometimes plateau for two workouts, but they usually increase the next. All the others I'm increasing my failure rep each workout just fine. You should give it a shot! Just remember to eat one of the diets( GLAD or MANS) and make sure you meet your caloric intake or else your gains may be severely shortened.

I put over half an inch on my arms in the first 2 weeks but probably just gaining back some old muscle which always comes quicker/easier. Overall bodyshape improved so I guess I've gained all over. After 3 weeks on it I find going to true failure on a whole body routine a bit much with regards to fatigue so I've split it up into a 2 day routine, changed a few exercises more in line with what I like from Mike Mentzer's Heavy Duty and Dorian Yates Blood & Guts. I've done well on them in the past and find for me an even more abbreviated routine works better. I think having a day just for legs would be better as going all out on squats is a workout in itself. For a beginner, TA3 should produce some gains though.

Well if you are following the MANS diet correctly and have worked out your nutrition requirements and train to failure and have caluclated your POP properly, I cant see how you will not gain on this program ?

I have been gaining over the last few weeks, getting much stronger and I dont consider myself a beginner. I will train for a few more weeks with TA3.0 and then switch to TA3.1 just to change things up a bit which I also think is important.

I've just completed 8 weeks of 3.0. No really noticeable physical gains but I've definitely gotten stronger. All my lifts have increased. A few have plateaued like pecs and shoulders. I had to reduce the weight for these exercises recently because I think it's very easy to do the cadence too fast and thus "cheat."

I also have been using the GLAD diet while on 3.0 and have somewhat struggled to get enough calories most days. Weekends too I've let my hair down a little and eaten "normally." All this may have limited my muscle growth but then again, 8 weeks is not that long considering that Mike Mentzer claims in his books that the majority of us don't make visible gains for a quite a prolonged period. I will say though that over the past 8 weeks I've gone from a soft and somewhat flabby 73.4 kg to a slightly slimmer and less flabby 68.7kg the other day. I'm 174 cms tall btw. The fact that my strength has improved suggests no muscle loss but a body fat percentage decrease. I'm happy with that.

I'm gonna be travelling over the next few weeks so I'll consider my 3.0 finished for now. When I get back, I'd like to start the MANS diet as I really like the sound of a ketosis based diet plus you get to have a carb-up day on weekends. I may try to cut a bit more body fat first though. Try to start muscle building from a leaner base and all that.
