Tht hit routine muscle soreness question

Postby Perry789 on Fri Jun 10, 2011 3:50 pm

Hi I would just like to know when following the tht hit routine, if I workout on Monday then when it comes around to my next workout on Wednesday and say for example my biceps are still sore, should I still work that muscle aswell? Thanks.

Let's delete the spambot reply and get you a real one, shall we?

As a general rule, yes, yes you should. Especially if you're a beginner and even if you're not and it's just start of a cycle, you may experienced what's called "delayed onset muscle soreness". It is not injury. It is not to be confused with the typical ache after the gym. This is muscular soreness usually a day or two after work out - it's the equivalent of your muscles whining at you, and you should ignore it. Delayed onset soreness resolves itself, and will stop occurring as you become more accustomed to training.

There are a few things you can do to mitigate soreness. First and foremost, drink more water. Shoot for a gallon a day (that's 4 liters if you do that metric thing). Make sure you get enough sleep, too. Your muscles don't grow at the gym, they grow while you rest. Speaking of rest, be good and lazy on your off days. Mr Spambot did have one good point - make sure you warm up, and that does NOT mean stretch!!! That means maybe a few minutes of light cardio if you want, then one set of 10 of whatever your first exercise is at half the working load, then a minute rest, then 2-3 reps at about 90% of the working load, then rest a minute, then start your routine. If you're going really REALLY heavy, add a set of 5-7 at 70% between those. :)

I started doing the warmups and no longer have fears about the snap-crackle-pop of back and leg exercises.
The warmups allow you to feel around and line up everything into the correct form instead launching from the gitgo. Which was my previous way since I thought I would waste my power on the warmups. I guess not. So far so good.

I was just trying to be of help, I'm certainly not a 'spambot'. I don't know why you think that, it's not like I posted any links to 'muscle soreness pills' or anything. As I said in my post, I'm no expert and I encouraged them to wait for more in-depth advice from others, but I'm a little offended that my good-intentioned post was just deleted

Because it fit the bill of most of the spambot posting we've seen around here (and there have been TONS of them), and if I remember correctly a thread you had started was flagged by another member. Seeing as you're not a spambot, your posts will be deleted no more. Sorry for the confusion.

Ok, that's fine then, although a little strange about my thread being flagged. The only thread I started was about single-leg squats. Can't see how that could cause a problem :|
