THT vs Stronglifts 5x5

I am looking for an answer or debate on the age old question of low reps heavy weight vs high reps moderate weight for muscle size gains.
I have been training on 5x5 for 1 year. I have made incredible gains in strength, but honestly not much in size. For instance I was doing deadlifts 5x5 with 80 lbs. Now i am doing 5x5 with 240 lbs.
Problem is while I wanted to get stronger, I started lifting to gain muscle size. I was a skinny 150 lbs. I am now at 180 lbs with a gut, like a powerlifter gut!
Unless I haven't given it enough time (1year) 5 sets of 5 reps just doesn't seem to be the way to go for maximum size gains.
I have also noticed a difference in the pictures of people who are on both programs, and the people on THT appear to have more muscle "SIZE". But almost every weightlifting/bodybuilding page or article people seem to swear by heavy weight low reps for size!!
Thinking about starting THT. Time is precious to me at 41 years old, I don't like to waste my time.
What is your opinion of THT for SIZE gains vs 5x5????

Mark makes no secret of the fact that THT is designed for muscular hypertrophy and size gains over strength - The whole program is based around getting bigger, not getting stronger. The 2 tend to go hand in hand, but there are optimal ways of doing both.
Stronglifts Basically claims exactly the opposite, to give maximal strength increases without so much concern for overall size.

The general consensus seems to be low reps with heavy weight (like 5x5) is best for strength, medium reps & weight (3 x ~8-12) is best for size. Marks new THT 4 incorporates both in different cycles (Which you can choose) so in my (admittedly fairly inexperienced opinion) THT would probably serve your goals better.

I am also not convinced by the very limited exercises in Stronglifts, I know compound exercises are necessary - But they shouldn't be the only things you do in my opinion.

Thanks for the reply. I will give THT4 a try. I guess I haven't completely wasted my time I do have alot more strength than I started with. Just apparently going for my goal in the wrong way. Its time to lose this gut and get out of the 1rm game. Its seems like THT pushes progressive overload just as 5x5 does, just in a higher rep range.

If your goal is fat loss take a look at TSPA - it works, I can tell you that from personal experience. Lots of people are currently using it to great success, it's worth the small outlay.

I did buy a copy of it a long while ago, but honestly dismissed it, thinking that Stronglifts was the way to go for my goal. I was only 150 or so lbs. at the time and thought i'd end up looking like Brad Pitt in fight club if I started TSPA at that weight. I was and still am after "muscle size" but without the gut. I ate anything I could to get to 3000 + cals. a day, i didn't stick with whole foods all the time like stronglifts suggests, now i regret that because its gonna be a struggle to get rid of it. Now, I plan to read TSPA cover to cover this weekend.

Is stronglift the same stronglift as GOMAD from Stronglifts who recommeds you drinking a gallon of milk a day that's is just one way to trip up and fail!!!!

Strongly stay away from that site stick with musclehack :D
