weight load adjustment

Postby gnheil on Thu Jul 02, 2009 7:19 pm

When going to a 3x8 or a 3x10 rep scheme after completing a 5x5 obviously the weight load will have to be adjusted accordingly. How do you calculate where to begin.? Do you use a specific percentage of the weight that you left off of on the 5x5.? I'm just looking for an approximation it doesn't have to be an exact number.

Were these 5x5's to failure, and are you trying for 3x8's to failure?

I've seen charts around that try to do the calculations, but they're not much more than a general guide - everybody's muscle and adaptations are too different.
